Imagine the shrinkage that led to that bag search policy though. I bet word on the street is that getting a retail job with apple was the easier way to steal iPhones than the organized mob shoplifting sprees we've seen so many videos about.

@Horace said in Virtuous hypocrite spotted in the wild: Those widely acclaimed as virtuous, because they coincidentally do and say things that others will find virtuous, are sometimes shitbags, but this is, of course, extremely rare. It seems one has been spotted. Remember the CEO who cut his salary so that all his employees could make more? That was 6 years ago. Seems he's resigning now because of domestic abuse allegations. Also, his brother sued him, right about the time he reduced his salary, for overpaying himself and mismanaging the company. The courts denied that suit though. As always, I am reserving judgment until more information is available. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ceo-who-cut-his-pay-so-workers-earned-70k-dan-price-gravity-payments-resigns-seattle/ Yeah, it's a fine line. I'm okay with some forms of virtue signaling. A shitload of the finest Western novels that illustrate our most important lessons were written by people who were a mess with their personal lives. But, see, they put it into the work and didn't much sermonize outside of that. Dan Price sermonizes daily.

@89th lol. I have a very thick concrete (FlexiCore) basement ceiling with a 5-6" thick concrete slab on top of that. All with metal bars and pipes running through it. The walls of the foundation are 14" thick steel bar reinforced concrete. The walls and ceilings are dimensional 2x6, metal matrix lath, and concrete-like plaster and the house has a stone exterior. Obtaining solid WiFi coverage has been a challenge. Ubiquity has provided the product line that finally solved this problem for me and is geeky fun.

@Jolly said in Forever and ever, amen.: Is there no time limit on YouTube videos? If things go on forever, how much server space do you need? Are videos monetized forever? I believe that YouTube accounts work the same way as Google accounts now. After X amount of total inactivity, they make your account inactive. After that, eventually things get dumped.

So the money spend on James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was not wasted. We learned something. I'm sure there will be more to come.
