  • OK, so what's better than a mid-afternoon nap?

I rarely nap these days (although I wish I could), but it's 50/50 if I feel great when I wake up or if I feel groggy. Either way, I suspect it's quite healthy to have a regular nap each day.

At least he didn't say he "fell on it." The problem with many of these "foreign bodies" is that once they're up there, a couple of things can happen. The rectal sphincter tightens and spasms, and it just won't "let go." The other thing is that a "suction" or "vacuum" effect occurs above the item preventing easy retrieval. If you can get a catheter passed up beyond the item, that breaks the suction and makes extraction easier. OTOH, sometimes, you just gotta chew it up... @Axtremus said in End The Proxy: @Jolly said in End The Proxy: I don't care if it's beloved, anointed or baptized - if you vote, you vote in person. Of course, you don’t care enough to not vote for your congressional representative even if he votes by proxy. That level of apathy is likely sufficient for your congressional representative to continue to vote by proxy from time to time in the future. No, I've got enough sense not to be a one-issue voter and silo my disdain for one policy, while approving of others.

Because stopping is racist Lastly, legalizing the safety stop has important racial justice ramifications. While the safety stop is already the norm for many bicyclists—only 1 in 25 report fully stopping at all stop signs—it is still grounds for a traffic citation. The rare and selective enforcement of rolling through a stop sign enables the law to be wielded in racially disparate ways. A 2015 Tampa Police Department report revealed that 73% of bicycle stops involved Black bicyclists, in a city that is only 26% Black. In Seattle, Black bicyclists were cited for helmet infractions 4 times as often as White bicyclists, prompting backlash and repeal of the longstanding law this year. Removing one potential pretext for police interaction will make for safer and more welcoming streets for our city’s Black bicyclists. https://waba.org/blog/2022/03/welcoming-the-safety-stop-to-dc/

About 20 years ago, a very pregnant mare at a barn where we were taking riding lessons went into labor as we arrived. Watching that foal being born was a remarkable thing to watch. I've seen hundreds, if not thousands, of human births, but this was amazing.

From the article: "No one showed up to protest the game Friday and those who complained in March have been quiet since then." Good. Good. This reminds me of that silly clunch who complained that Brady's toss of the Lombardi was disrespectful of her father, who designed the trophy. If y'all redd the article I sent here a couple of days ago, you couldn't miss the joy and heady exuberance of that day, made even more so by the toss. Many said they'd never forget the day. Then Debbie Downer comes along, thankfully too late to ruin the festivities. I hope very much that the fun and frolic of the Skirt Game is restored next year. Damn those stupid women.

Not sure why you call them baby names. Is the list for name changes in general, or baby name changes, whatever that means?
