Anna Paulina Luna (née Mayerhofer, later Gamberzky In 2019, she took her maternal grandmother's maiden name, Luna, to represent her Hispanic heritage. She did this to follow suit from her mother who had first changed her surname to the same, following a finalized divorce. Luna began describing herself as Hispanic in 2019. However, when she registered to vote in 2015, she had marked her ethnicity as "White, not of Hispanic origin." Sen Warren is her racial mentor.

I am not a big movie watcher but an interesting video. (on another note, I was reading that more for "TV" series, they are changing how they are written. Because so many watchers are are playing on their phones while watching (or otherwise distracted) scripts are starting to "recap" things because the show makers realize that they do not have the audience full attention anymore. For example: Before: Someone walks into a room and the audience knows where they just came from. Now: Someone walks into a room, and somehow lets it known that they just came from this other location.

Sad - pretty obvious there are mental or addiction problems and probably both.

Academia will be the last culture to change, if it ever does. The free market is not at work there, and there has always been a moat between its culture and popular culture, with built-in, default reasons for academia to be self-satisfied with those differences. (They are the educated and intelligent ones, after all.)

Somewhat related. The US used to print a USD$100,000 bill. But, it was not legal to own. It was supposed to be only for banks. If you have one, or tried to use one, you could be arrested. BTW if you want to see what was "uncovered" (psst, it's all available online), check this out. Here's the program: https://www.fema.gov/grants/preparedness/shelter-services-program/fy24-awards/ssp-a Here's the $59 million: [image: 1739462248577-f708086f-7abd-4819-9395-e7580fbadb1e-image.png] And here are the roll call votes as it passed the House and Senate: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/2617/all-actions?overview=closed&q={"roll-call-vote"%3A"all"} House = 225-201 (at least 7 republicans joined the democrats) Senate = 68-29 (at least 18 republicans joined the democrats) And if FEMA spent this money on Hurricane Relief... THAT is what would be illegal. Just some facts.

@Mik said in As Originally Presented: I think it's more valuable to leave them in as a mirror onto our former selves rather than trying to make them conform to today. It's a barometer of how far we've come. Totally. And when they had a disclaimer before Aladdin, I thought... ok so you think it's bad, but you still "sell" it for money. If it was truly offensive, you would remove it completely.

It only goes from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL. It takes a long time, it's not cheap. My in-laws tried it about 20 years ago. They drove from MA to our house, a short drive to Lorton. At the time they were spending 6 months in FL and 6 in MA. It worked ok for that kind of migration, but not so great for a short term trip, maybe just once out of curiosity.

@taiwan_girl said in lol fox: @Doctor-Phibes said in lol fox: Rumour has it that after the big DEI push they hired a red-head to clean the bathrooms. LOL. The picture is funny, but I would not be surprise if they "suggest" to new hires that will be in front of the camera that they may look better with blond hair. Yeah, like Emily Compagno. Harris Faulkner, etc.

Yeah that was apparent early on. The battle will be more about specific policies. A letter signed by a bunch of pharma, academic, and patient groups was sent to me just today to see if we would sign on. It was about cuts to FDA. NIH cuts are getting a lot of attention. 22 states sued, including some red ones.
