As a couple of you know, Karla’s in the process of taking over a slightly larger pet care company. She’s a little worried that there may be a period where the payroll period will go out before the billing cycle is completed the first month, so we decided to open a HELOC to have a buffer, just in case.
Yesterday afternoon, I began the application, and am completing it today. Since I started the application, I’ve gotten 6 calls from mortgage companies and 4 text messages telling me that my application has been approved. None from the lender that I am working with (my credit union)…
I don’t know if it’s cookies from their site, or if our phones passively picked up our conversations, but in that case I would expect ads, not outright phone spamming…

Ugh that's annoying. Is there any chance you filled out a form to initiate the process, but the form was really an intake that then sends it out to a network of lenders, like lending tree?
@89th No, this was directly on the Credit Union’s site, link sent by the Credit Union Agent we worked with.

Spoke with my bank. Apparently, FICA is the culprit. They sell out your info to lenders. Here’s their opt out page - https://www.optoutprescreen.com/
