@Horace said in The Rebound: @Rainman said in The Rebound: Along the way, no fingers will be broken, although there will be many tired fingers, given all the finger pointing over the next year. And all the frenzied typing of "I told you so"s. The thing that will truly rocket up is hindsight

The report says that they initiated the go-around because of " problems with extension of the (nose) landing gear". Was the problem was they forgot to lower it? Or was there some mechanical problem? Either way they shouldn't have gotten that close to the ground without knowing they had the gear down.

Yeah, I go to that site a lot. But I mean comparing on a per-capita basis. It's a lot of fucking data to collect though.

Compare that to North Carolina, which opened Friday. Multi-week trend clearly rising. [image: 1590580613465-ac007e56-c95d-42e3-9313-1168713bc6b4.jpeg]

Reminds me of the cat we had as a child - "Fluffy" - lived a long life though not as long as Miss Kitty.

@jon-nyc said in Italy Covid update: You argued from incomplete data about the DP, which I pointed out at the time. Time has vindicated me, deaths more than doubled since your first post on the subject. I’m arguing an IFR between 0.5 and 0.75. You argued an IFR of 0.125 Well if you were saying .50 to .75 all along I would say we have been largely on the same page. I did say I would accept CDCs worst case which is not too far from you current number. Regardless the new data is at a large variance from all the anecdotal stories of young kids and young people dying of coronavirus as the data by age is finally coming in.

Sure you can. Chop the leftovers up and, with the smoky drippings, make the best chili you have ever tasted.

@Copper said in Enter the unmanned fighter: I think several years ago we discussed here (in the old place) the fact that the top pilots graduating from the Air Force Academy went to drone pilot school, not F-16 school. And that's why it's called "The Chair Force."

Exactly. Any idiot could have seen that as soon as you start letting people spout off about the Earth not being the center of the universe, next thing you know you have a reality TV hack for president.

@Horace said in Grey Lives Matter: bay area to missouri. I can drive route 66. I've never done that before. Watch the series first, I watched all 4 seasons last year - good stuff. https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B075TG34LB/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s1 [image: 71iIxLpjt8L._SX268_.jpg]

@Aqua-Letifer said in 120 cases and 15 deaths from a single case - in a hospital!: It's been 2-3 months of social distancing and suggested-but-not-mandatory PPE use in public. Try to hang tough. Pandemics usually last 12-36 months, that's a lot of hanging. Of course I'm not sure the word usual makes sense in this context. I think the suggested-but-not-mandatory routine will last as long as it offers some political advantage. Hang tough.

@Mik said in Asymptomatic Transmission, the Achilles’ Heel of Current Strategies to Control Covid-19: What worries me is lingering, possibly permanent, health problems in otherwise recovered patients. Yeah, I'm with you. We could recover from it, and then have our later years completely messed up by the thing.
