Interesting My tenuous connection is that my paternal grandfather came to the US on the RMS Carpathia, the ship that rescued the survivors, albeit not on the same voyage.

The last time I heard someone from the CDC he said to wear a mask UNLESS you are able to stay 6 feet away from people. I don't wear one either, but that's partly because I haven't seen any for sale yet.

This one was my favorite. Luxe parking. I had very variable parking demand because I didn’t have my own car. https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN1BN134 I think they got something like $60M before they figured out you can’t charge $50 bucks for something that normally goes for $500

@QuantumIvory said in My bitch about masks.: FWIW... https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/04/commentary-masks-all-covid-19-not-based-sound-data Data lacking to recommend broad mask use We do not recommend requiring the general public who do not have symptoms of COVID-19-like illness to routinely wear cloth or surgical masks because: There is no scientific evidence they are effective in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission Their use may result in those wearing the masks to relax other distancing efforts because they have a sense of protection We need to preserve the supply of surgical masks for at-risk healthcare workers. Sweeping mask recommendations—as many have proposed—will not reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission, as evidenced by the widespread practice of wearing such masks in Hubei province, China, before and during its mass COVID-19 transmission experience earlier this year. Our review of relevant studies indicates that cloth masks will be ineffective at preventing SARS-CoV-2 transmission, whether worn as source control or as PPE. Well yeah this data would be handy wouldn't it.

The other thing that article does not provide is what went into the eventual cost. Sure, the machine may cost $1 million. How about supplies? People to run it? Overhead to gather, track, treat and return the masks to their owners? How many machines were purchased? It's just another hit piece. History tells us in the midst of an emergency you take some long shots. See the Doolittle raid.

Actually, the OK Joe Bronco you mentioned is very interesting and may have taken over the lead. The UDS doesn’t do well with low and slow. Poor air flow control and you have to remove the food to add fuel plus there’s no grate for a flat surface. The Weber Bullet isn’t really built for hanging meats and may be a little short for ribs. OKJB Seems like the best of both worlds. Plus it’s made out of steel. I don’t really see myself taking my grill anywhere...
