@Mik said in When WH Auden taught school: I loved the classes that challenged me to think, not just ingest and regurgitate. Mostly writing and poli sci. Just about the wildest ride I ever took was with Auden's Age of Anxiety. It's Ulysses but in verse. And it constantly changes to match the message. He doesn't get nearly enough credit for it. In writing it, he wrote a lot of letters to Tolkien to understand alliterative verse better. Those letters are so enlightening about how English works.

I didn't know you were a Kindle man. I’m not, but iPad reads them fine. I just got a Boox Poke 5. Basically a fully functioning tablet that uses e-ink. So, I can get the kindle, kobo and B&N apps on it, as well as Substack. And it has audio, so I can put my Audible account on there, too. One Device to Rule Them All.

I also think that knowing how to shoot accurately would be a great help for a number of saxophonists I've met.

@jon-nyc said in Would this guy even be nominated today?: As for the question, he’d have as much chance as Ronald Reagan would in today’s GOP. They’d both be lucky not to be booed off the stage. And we’re definitely worse off for it. Agree 100%. The extreme sides of each side seem to have the agenda right now. Unfortunate.

@Copper said in Let me introduce you to your public defender: She's not a slave to fashion. In the various comments the Twitteratti are posting are discussions about what is appropriate for an attorney to wear into a courtroom. Many seem to think that this attire is...not courtroom-appropriate.
