@Copper said in Let me introduce you to your public defender: She's not a slave to fashion. In the various comments the Twitteratti are posting are discussions about what is appropriate for an attorney to wear into a courtroom. Many seem to think that this attire is...not courtroom-appropriate.

The Germans made Bouncing Betty's out of mostly glass towards the end of WW2. The mines were harder to detect and wounded soldiers were harder to treat, since glass fragments are harder to find on the x-ray equipment of the time.

If these rules can be made by executive fiat, what's to prevent them from being unmade by executive fiat. Biden did exactly that with respect to the southern "border."

Just finished that book myself a couple months ago. Actually read it rather than listened. Love Steinbeck. But of course categorical statements like "invention can only occur in a single mind" can be framed as wrong, for anybody motivated to frame the idea as wrong. Which a lot of people would, to the extent the idea was used to glorify the individual over the collective.

Robotics, CNC, RC, should have rendered the human presence in (insert your mined element here) mines, or just about any commercial activity that is dangerous to humans, obsolete and unnecessary, decades ago. Instead we focus on the non-dangerous activities like arts, coding, design, financial, etc. Silly, stupid human race.

@Horace said in Meanwhile, in Maine...: Then they would change back if the popular vote looked to be favoring the wrong candidate. Exactly!! LOL Right now, I am sure that the % of Democrat favoring this is quite high and the % of Republics favoring it is quite low. Fast forward X years in the future, and things may be just the opposite if Republics are winning the popular vote but losing the electoral.

Yes, I have heard that. Right now, it costs more to recycle a plastic bottle and turn into a new one than to make one from scratch. (Interesting that most plastic things are petroleum based. Oil has to go up quite a bit in price before plastic recycle will work)

I noticed they went right probably a decade ago. But not nearly as much as the NYT has gone left.
