Maybe Klaus’s answers weren’t sealed properly and therefore were thrown out. Horace is likely busy setting up his transition team.

You keep hearing that "Google is not your friend," and usually when you hear that, it's referring to privacy issues. But Google isn't any business owner's friend, either. Here are two searches I just ran: [image: 1602597148823-google-2.jpg] [image: 1602597159959-capture-2.jpg] What's different about these searches compared to the Google of 5-10 years ago? Well, the first one is more graphical, and the second more closely resembles questions you might have about the subject matter you searched for, but look at the answers. You don't need to click off the page to get your answers, do you? Think about that. And if you think that isn't deliberate you're out of your mind. How companies "win" in Google search rankings today is to publish material that Google can pull from (and take credit for in terms of traffic), to provide answers on their SERP that are so comprehensive that the searcher has no reason to click on the source and visit that company's page. Google actually gives preferential treatment to companies who make this easier for them, and downranks content that you have to click into to find your answers. It's not just Google, either. Facebook does the exact same thing with their ads. They'd much prefer you create ads that don't give users a reason to leave the Facebook platform; ads that do this less perform better. Remember "don't be evil"? What a fucking joke that turned out to be.

I'm thinking he will gain more empathy on what it's like to be somebody's wife. Maybe several somebodies.

Hm. OK, I'm not going to ask. One of them is Vladimir Putin.

@George-K said in Passing the Bar: The only question I have about the story is how "active" her labor really was. Yeah, she had membrane rupture, and contractions. I've seen lots and lots of women in very early labor in exactly the same situation, and the contractions are little more then, "Oh, look! Here's another contraction." When things get really active, the contractions are "GODDAMMIT MOTHERFUCKER MAKE IT STOP .... NOWWWWWW!!!" So, yeah, in early labor, I can see her taking a test for several hours if her labor wasn't really well-established and active. Once that happens, there's no way. None. Agreed. There's labor, and then there's LABORRRRRRRRRRR. She obviously was in the first stage, not the end stage.

Link won’t let me scroll down. It reloads when I try. Anyway my understanding was the GOP tried as they might to get Democrats to object to her religion but none took the bait. For what it’s worth the court is actually full of Catholics. There are actually no WASPs on the court.

@Mik said in RIP Eddie Van Halen: @Larry said in RIP Eddie Van Halen: I just read this bit of trivia: Before Eddie Van Halen became famous, he worked as a piano and organ delivery man for a music store in his hometown. Meh. Mostly slab ranch houses. We had to take uprights and grands up and down circular staircases. For some reason, Laurel and Hardy spring to mind.

@Copper said in "The voters don't deserve to know.": Yes, and a democratic would never do that. That wasn't my point. The point was to make the joke a bit more subtle. However, I guess they needed something those a little slower on the uptake could figure out.

How bad does the music you listen to and the sport you follow have to be before you'd go to a political rally instead of a concert and/or game? I'd rather listen to Enrico Palazzo than either Biden or Trump.
