I play that. I play Wordle, dordle, quordle, and octordle. LOL Good help in improving language skills. My best ever on octordle was a score of 55. I always start with the same two words and try and guess from there.

That’s a hard pass. I love adventurous sausages, but that’s a bridge too far.

@George-K said in My Son Hunter: Laurence Fox? As in "Inspector Lewis?" He's gone full right-wing activist in the UK. He's started his own political party, "Reclaim". He's really quite annoying, and IMHO none-too-bright. But what do I know? He sees himself as a kind of cultural Nigel Farage. I know, it's a weird idea. He comes from a long line of rather posh folk, and thinks that upper-class actors are being discriminated against and apparently have a really hard time finding work. Unlike the regular, working class ones. It's all so unfair.

@Mik said in Meanwhile, at the grocery store: If you have a gas or charcoal grill, you're ok for the pizza. But it's not what I'd pick. I always have an extra tank of propane around too. Hate to run out. Always have probably 100 pounds of charcoal too. If you don't have a generator, your freezer won't hold out but for 2-3 days. Freezer on a frig? Not that long. You can stair-step it...Perishables first, then frozen stuff that is thawing out, then smoke or can your meat for longer term (one week to longer) storage at room temps (lucky for some of y'all, you have access to root cellars. No such thing, here). A person can do an awful lot with a barbeque pit or open fire, if you know how and have the right tools. I suspect 90%+ don't have either.

@Klaus said in Inverters for cars and trucks?: I think your calculation isn't quite right. First of all, 2 Amps at what voltage? It can't be 12V - that would be just 24W. You're right. I was in a rush to count the Amps that I skipped over the Watts. Recalculating in Watts: A typical 12V car battery, fully charged, stores about 1300 Watt-Hours of energy. A typical crockpot draws around 250 Watts of power. Take 50% off the battery's capacity then divide by 250 Watts gets you maybe 2.5 hours or crockpot cooking time. :man-shrugging:

@Klaus said in USB Hub question: @George-K said in USB Hub question: When I plug my iPad into the hub, it does not charge, however, I can sync it to my Mac. When I plug it into a standard USB-A type hub, it's fine - charges and syncs. You mean when you plug it into a USB-C port, it does not charge but it does when you use a USB-A port? Not quite. I have a USB-A hub. And it charges and syncs fine with that. But when I plug it into the USB-A port on this fancy-schamcy hub, it doesn't.

Yep, don’t count, just wing it. I suspect Chopin did things to prevent himself from getting bored, and he winged it plenty in his own time.

This is a point that I have brought up several times… Ever been in a situation like this? [image: 1662511524339-04015240-04f9-4465-a734-d7ad0b1c06cc.jpeg] I have. Twice. Once for 6 hours, the other for 10. I won’t be driving an EV as my primary vehicle, ever. Because in a gas-powered vehicle, you could just drive away? Most gas powered vehicles can idle and drive the heater for over 30 hours on a full tank. Most EV’s are drained in under 6 hours in below 32 degrees. And you're actually going to ride it out for over 30 hours in your car? Should it become necessary, I can walk some distance to retrieve gas from a station or siphon from other cars. You aren’t retrieving and carrying back a spare battery pack… Yes because when the road is snowed in with 6+ feet of accumulation, it's totally the gas that's the limiting factor. Look, I get it, EVs have a more limited use case. But pointing to freak storm events that happen in this area once a decade, in which gas and EVs alike are both going to be stuck, is about the worst argument you could use not to buy an EV. This coming from the guy that has bug-out bags ready to go? I’m not as bad as I used to be.. We don’t get many severe ice/snow events down here but I do toss the box with the 12 pack of water, emergency blanket, flashlight, hand warmers, box of granola bars, bag of rock salt, and a hand shovel into the trunk every winter… You should always make sure you are prepared for a SHTF event even when you don’t expect one… You know that… Now, a very good case could be made for having an electric assist bicycle…

@89th said in California: "Enjoy your pricey burger": @LuFins-Dad said in California: "Enjoy your pricey burger": @Jolly said in California: "Enjoy your pricey burger": Minority youths hurt most. No, seniors will hurt the most as wage inflation devours their savings. I wonder if a study has been run to see how much of today’s inflation is due to the supply chain issues and how much to wage inflation? Indeed about seniors. And I think inflation is a combo of supply chain (COVID, now Ukraine), wages (COVID, now policies), and quite frankly...companies raising prices because they can (or have to, because of their own operating costs). Wages are a huge part of the problem for companies operating costs…

Going back to the original article... The article does not link the clots to COVID or the vaccine, saying there is not enough evidence. This raises a couple of questions: Are there actually more clots being found? If so, why? This dovetails with another observation... Autopsies. We don't do near the amount we used to. I remember back in the 80's, doing at least one or two a week (185 bed hospital). In 2014, we may have done one/month. Looking back at the old logs, we did an average of four per week in the late 1950's. Therefore...Is it possible morticians would see a trend before doctors?

@Klaus said in "Don't like this? Build your own!": It's not quite fair to only blame the big tech companies for this situation. The main culprit is email spammers. Agreed.
