Ever see the teeth on a racoon?
They're pointy and sharp. Guy will be lucky if he doesn't have a major infection in those puncture wounds...But it makes for a helluva story.
I read recently that rabies is a sure and painful death if untreated for several days. Hopefully they were only using rabid as an expression.
" The girl says she and her mom ended up bitten and scratched. They went to the hospital and received their first round of rabies shots."
"The animal ran off and could not be found."
It probably was rabid. They'll bow up on you when cornered, but they don't attack.
OTOH, they can be aggressive with other animals. A coon will eat about anything, including small animals such as baby rabbits.
I haven't had one in a few years...and I've got some sweet taters at home...This thread may have flung a craving on me. They should be pretty good right now, with the oval cups and white oak acorns on the ground.
