You know... it's funny... their mantra is "My body, My Choice". If that's the case, they made the choice to lay down with their feet straight up in the air and allowed a man penis-owner to enter them. Maybe they should make better choices BEFORE they get knocked up. What are you, a biologist???? Maybe... I know the definition of a "woman".

Federal giveaways of monies they probably should not have had in the first place are where we get into trouble. If the tax break for teacher, etc. housing is evenly applied across the nation there is no real danger.

@Axtremus said in Burn Pit Bill blocked ...: @Horace said in Burn Pit Bill blocked ...: But this was educational for many, and I'm glad we spent a couple days learning about this particular budget trick. Maybe in the future it'll be more difficult to slip into legislation. What "budget trick"? There has been no "budget trick" in the bill to begin with. The budget trick was explained in several of the linked articles. 400 billion dollars was changed from discretionary to mandatory, opening a 400 billion dollar hole in the discretionary budget to add anything to, not related to military. Is there something about that that you do not understand or do not believe? That is how it has already been explained many times in the material linked to in this thread.

@George-K said in "Defying the Supreme Court": @Axtremus Marbury v Madison is not the appropriate analogy. I cited Marbury v. Madison not for analogy but as an important consideration for discussing balance of power and difference of roles between the legislative branch and the judicial branch, which core of the Leonhardt article you quoted in the opening post.

@Jolly said in It does not add up: ... but I'm sure it varies from district to district. True, though the lack of systematic gathering/reporting of teacher demand/supply data in most states makes it nigh impossible to get a handle on where the shortages are.

@Jolly said in Inexcusable: Garland needs to be sitting there. "You have one job - to enforce the laws as enacted by Congress. Are you doing that? If so, please let us know how that is happening. If not, why not?" Pretty simple, actually.

State legislatures used to choose senators but now they effectively choose representatives through gerrymandering. It’s a rather odd switch.

@Klaus said in Worst Pizza in the World: A good pizza needs to be quite thin, in my opinion. Too much stuff on it, especially too much cheese, ruins it. I am agnostic on that. I love a good thin-crust (that's what I usually have) and I see the crust as nothing more than a vehicle to convey the toppings. Lots of cheese, meats, veggies, etc. A "pan" pizza, as depicted in those pictures, is not the same as "thick crust" which I rarely eat. Too much bread, too heavy, and bloat-inducing. The "pan" pizza is really a casserole on top of a bread crust.
