@Jolly said in Yo, Ron!: Or maybe not... https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-has-called-three-florida-mayors-but-not-gov-ron-desantis-to-talk-about-hurricane-ian/ar-AA12jRZT?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=9f6b5b4cb7f24809a07764bccc091637 Sadly, this is the nature of politics now, and Biden isn't the first to act like this. It's a real shame. I guess the timing doesn't help either, with November on the way.

I'd settle for being Hitler for a day. Maybe Stalin.

I like the labels. I don't look at them most of the time, but they tend to tell me what I want to know.

I aspire to have less of my life be spent looking at a screen. (for the record I spent untold hours on video games, TV, computer and internet since I was a kid) Did early TV watchers feel the same thing? I think you and I are pretty similar with a number of things, including this. Agreed. And I agree with @Jolly too... you and I have strong "old fart" energy.

@Aqua-Letifer said in The scent of autumn...: Speaking of autumn, I was in meetings for a whopping 20 hours last week. What I usually do during this time is turn my video feed off and practice guitar. But I also wrote this to pass the time, so here you go. Autumn A weaker light descends and runs Beneath the branches of the ones Who’ve seen a hundred seasons. When summer radiance departs The leaves escape and drift apart, Committing minor treasons. Very nice!!! I like it! (If I may ask, what are you trying to say about minor treasons? I am sure that is a meaning for a bigger statement?)

None better than The Great War with Indy Neidell. Link to video Indy and Spartacus Olsen wrapped up the series with the end of the war. The channel still does content, but without them. Their chronological look at the war, week by week, is well worth watching for WW1 nerds. They are currently doing WW2, week by week. Total content will be over 300 hours. Highly recommended. @LuFins-Dad said in I think it's closer to 15%: @Doctor-Phibes said in I think it's closer to 15%: The nasty problem with food inflation being so high is that it proportionally affects the poor considerably more than the better off, since a larger percentage of their total expenditure is food. Saxophone prices OTOH seem to be pretty much fixed at this point, so I'm going to tell Mrs. Phibes I'm actually saving us money with my intended new purchase later this year. As an added benefit, she gets to hear me play, which will put her off her food, saving even more money! Mark VI? God no, I'm getting a new one. Probably Yanagisawa. Selmer's are over-priced.

It's interesting how quickly latent homophobia surfaces when the intended victim is on the other team, so to speak.

@Axtremus said in Fortune: It‘s going to get bad for Europe: In the UK, are most mortgages fixed rate or variable rate? I think they're mostly variable rate - they certainly were when I lived there. I remember back in the early 90's before I bought a house they were up around 14%, and once they increased twice in one day.
