Objective by whose standard?

Objectivity is only the goal for people who don't really understand journalism.
It was never about objectivity. For example, there's no "objective" way to cover concentration camps.
"The U.S. Army's 522nd Field Artillery Battalion estimated that some 40,000 bodies have been found in Dachau. While Colonel Felix L. Sparks believed the camps to be part of a mass extermination campaign, Heinrich Himmler assured questioning news media in a statement yesterday that the camp was used to quarter protective-custody prisoners."
Like, that's fucking ridiculous.
Real news involves a human being collecting a shitload of information to try to figure out what the story is. They then present only some of this information—it's not important to know the color of Himmler's shoes when he made his statement—so that you both tell a story and support your belief that this is the most accurate story that explains the facts.
This is subjective, and it requires others who find other stories in the facts to share their own in parallel reporting.
The problem today is that it's all story, no facts. But to go the other way would be just as ridiculous. News stories aren't a peer-reviewed scientific study, nor should they be.
Objectivity is only the goal for people who don't really understand journalism.
It was never about objectivity.
True, but saying so ad nauseum might make some folk believe it was at one time in the imaginary distant past.

As the culture polarizes, so too will journalism. Those on board with existential risk narratives, are the problem. What are hand waved and politically charged existential risks, if not polarizing?
People who talk about existential risks all the time are an existential risk.

I don't take much notice of Democrat speeches, TBH. 'Existential threat' is kind of their version of 'Socialist'.

"I don't pay attention to the thing you're trying to make a point about" is not much of a rebuttal.

Well, at least part of the word rebuttal is appropriate.

You weren’t. At least I didn’t think so. I understood what you wrote as it was written. That may be a problem for folks who obsess over buzz words and pop kultur phrases.

His rejoinder, which was definitely not a rebuttal, was simply over my head.
Please don't attempt to explain it to me. I will be lost in the complex subtleties.
