Thanks. I don't know the guy well enough to dump him on you, but I'll certainly forward the group to his work email.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Thou shalt not say bad things about BLM:

The thing about having a completely free press is they get to choose what to write. Assuming you treat Facebook as part of the press, which is admittedly a bit questionable. However, if you allow CNN and Fox to decide what people can say in public, then you (arguably) need to extend the same privilege to Facebook.

So, either we agree with their right to do what they like, or we force them to do what we like, whoever "we" are.

I don't think the current system is working very well, but it still beats what happens elsewhere.

As Churchill almost said about democracy - it's the worst form of government, except for all the others.

But FB and Twitter and other platforms are fixable by regulating social media platforms as sorts of private utilities that serve the public interest, and are therefore nonexcludable. They are not like CNN or FOX or NYT who are curated publishers to self selecting audiences, but like CNN and FOX they do use public infrastructure and have responsibilities to the common good, which speaks to necessary inclusion of all members of the society.

Which is what late night tv should be.

An exception would be Gutfeld! or an equivalent on a cable network, where you know the politics going in... Gutfeld or Maher can still be funny, given the right audience.

I have heard about this happening in places like Laos and Cambodia and even in African countries.

China provides infrastructure but loan terms can be really difficult for the country to repay, as well as tying the country into using Chinese technology for almost everything. This could turn out to be a big problem long term.

I think that most people in the US (and probably in the world) will have a "reduced pay" for the coming year.

I dont think a lot of companies who have people on salary will give 7% raises .

I missed the last time Muti did the Carmina Burana. I think it was in his first season. It got rave reviews.

Never been a huge fan of the work, so it's a "nope" from me.

As for Ravinia - I'm not a fan unless sitting in the Pavilion. Sitting on the lawn being eaten by bugs while listening to idiots talking next to one is not my ideal way of spending an evening.

I can listen to the music on a better sound system in my living room.

Yeah, but your sound system cost more, so, there's that.

In England, the only people who can afford to buy property are rich foreigners.

Lately it has been a cat, rabbit or possum. This one looked slimmer and faster than these.

Interesting article recently about a group of killer whales and actually were able to kill a blue whale.

I agree with @89th on this topic, which should not be surprise to anyone. LOL

@George-K Interesting article. The one thing I would counter argue is that the US economy is the "envy" of much of the world. I think one of the reasons is that the Central Bank operates pretty independent of politics.

Omigosh, we walked the tracks all the time, and many times in significantly altered states.

The only guy I know who was ever hurt by a train was a buddy of mine in Springfield who hopped the trains a lot to get downtown to the bars. He continued doing it into his 50's and eventually his luck ran out. Lost a leg.

But think of how much he saved in cab fares.

    Also future shoe purchases.
