@Doctor-Phibes said in Things you think at work but don't say: Speaking of things you think at work but don't say: I actually need convincing that being a senior manager is really hard. Depends. The good senior managers I've worked with all outworked the teams under them. The wastes of space did far less, and some of them even believed their own bullshit. Seems that for every 1 of the former out there, you'll find at least 10 of the latter. The diamonds in the rough were the ones who just did the thing, never took the job or themselves too seriously and were generally alright to be around.

China also has things like missed rent payments, alimony payments, other fines and tickets, etc. linked to something like that. They all cause a point deduction in your overall "social" score. When it drops below a certain level, it is very difficult to purchase transportation tickets, use credit cards, etc etc etc

Yup, it is amazing how many people go into the wilderness with neither the experience or equipment, usually both. There are always sad stories about people who, for one or other reason, overestimate their abilities. Sad. One sadexample of a really experienced long distance hiker who basically documented his own death as he became overcome by weather. https://www.outsideonline.com/2336896/snowbound/

A few things ... The manure hits the oscillator when the middle class is drastically down-sized or eradicated. Poor people need to pay taxes, even if it's just miniscule amounts. You care more when you have skin in the game. Rich people should certainly pay taxes, without an upper limit. (Social Security for example). Those taxes should be simplified with less loopholes.

You chaps do realise that non-citizens are legally allowed to work in the US, right? Some of us actually oversee the hiring and firing of pure-bred Americans. It's a lot of fun. More seriously, non-citizens can join the military. So why not the police?

@Jon said in Hay Bud Light! Hold my beer!: Not too familiar with the brand but I doubt it’s anything close to bud light in terms of the percentage of their customer base that would view this unfavorably. They’re very big in the UK. They’re now owned by Coca Cola. Similar demographic to Starbucks in Britain so you’re probably right

True, although my thought is over the years as teeth change (position, color) subtly... eventually the other tooth will look different. Who knows, I don't like the thought of any of this because this was a bit of a random toothache that has snowballed into dental work I didn't expect for another 30 years LOL
