@jon-nyc said in Stimulus Breakdown: @lufins-dad said in Stimulus Breakdown: I'm okay with it as a one-time deal. I don't get why the number is higher for younger kids and lower for older. I have a toddler and a (last year) 17 year old. Want to guess which one cost me more? I spent far more on my kid during pre-school. Nanny was pricey. I get most people don't hire a full time nanny, but day care is pricey too. Not during Covid. No day care, and you would not have let a nanny into your home.

@mik @George-K Good points and I agree contribute. There may also be "gene" factor. I know in the US, they talk about how black people and spanish people get more COVID, than white people. One of the factors may be genes

I think this article is incorrect for a couple of reasons: I think it is "empty talk" about adding judges to the Supreme Court of the US. From what I have hear and read, there would not be enough interest from either side to do this. It is a (somewhat) small group of Democrats that want to do this. The article says: "And the Roberts court has been remarkably resistant to taking up significant 2A cases since McDonald." When I looked up that case, it was decide in 2010!! So, to say or suggest that not doing gun cases is because of President Biden and his threat to add judges makes no sense.

That is interesting. Makes a lot of sense, but was not aware of it. I am just guess, but if the price is higher for auto disable syringe, probably not used much in the US. US seems to have a pretty good monitoring system for syringes. However, for drug addict people, they may be a good thing. So, maybe in locations where clinics work with those type of people, they are used more?

I will admit that I do not know much about this situation, but from what I have read, there was a known deadline to pass it. The deadline was finished and it had not been passed in that time. Seems pretty "open/close" to me.

@horace said in Fun with the Uber app: Another fun thing I noticed is when I tried to schedule this ride in advance last night. For some reason it was very busy in California at the time so the price was triple normal. Uber automatically locks that price in, ostensibly as a favor to the user, even if the ride is scheduled far out, at a time that would otherwise have normal prices. Last night the ride to the airport cost 170 and this morning 55. So I couldn’t schedule it last night and due to this time zone issue had trouble scheduling it this morning. We ended up using Lyft. Same driver, same car, different software platform.

@horace said in Guess what this is: @rainman said in Guess what this is: @loki said in Guess what this is: It’s a percentage increase year over year. Not US related. Cut to the chase here with the answer: ::: Inflation in Venezuela ::: Damn. I was JUST going to say Venezuela. I was going to say it probably five or ten minutes before you were going to say it. What was I supposed to do? I mean, you spend like half a day in the john. I waited as long as I could, but there's big prize money at stake here, bub, we're not foolin around lookin for nickels and dimes. Like six zillion bolivars or whatever the hell they call their money nowadays. That is BIG man, BIG!! And it was like 7 minutes at best before I was going to speak, don't confuse everyone. Even so, I had a frog in my throat. A BIG frog man, a BIG one!! Ever try to be in a contest where you're staggering around with frog legs sticking out of your mouth?? ewe. Just Gross, even for me.

@jon-nyc said in $5000 per tent per month...: LD you’re forgetting the incentive effects. If any SFer who makes himself homeless were to get a free apartment there would be a gazillion more homeless. Better remedy: buy cheaper tents. I can outfit them for $3K per tent per month. I’ll toss in a Cara Dune Sleeping Bag as well...

I saw that earlier and forwarded to D2. She said, "I know it’s early still, but I’ve been reading other long haulers say they’ve improved too. Not back to baseline, but better. "
