@doctor-phibes said in Changes at Basecamp: We have a guy at work who has always made a point of responding to any personal stuff on email with a terse 'please do not include me in these non work-related discussions', frequently cc'ing (friendly) managers. It's become a bit of a trademark for him. He recently celebrated his 30-year anniversary, and everybody posted some nice things. He then sent an email out to everybody, thanking them for their kind words and the gift. He received a ton of emails back, cc'd to all, saying 'please do not include me on these non work-related emails'

Integrity. Honesty. Intelligence. That's impressive to find. They must want to keep their customers.

https://www.cnet.com/news/spacex-crew-1-astronauts-return-home-in-rare-nighttime-splashdown/?ftag=CAD-03-10aaj8j "We welcome you back to planet Earth and thanks for flying SpaceX," SpaceX's Mission Control radioed moments after splashdown. "For those of you enrolled in our frequent flyer program, you've earned 68 million miles on this voyage." "We'll take those miles," spacecraft commander Col. Mike Hopkins said moments after landing. "Are they transferrable?"

15% of the student population live in a culture that demeans and belittles academic success and accomplishment. Another 8% is put at an extreme disadvantage by not speaking English. We have an education system that is more focused inequity than individual success. American educators are now telling us that math is racist, and “getting the right answers” and “showing your work” are given as examples of white supremacy. https://katu.com/news/local/debate-emerges-over-racism-and-white-supremacy-in-math-instruction. I wonder why we are failing...

@loki said in US daily Covid deaths: So the one week rolling average of deaths in the US are at the lowest point of the pandemic with the exception of the period June 17 to July 10, 2020. I suspect Mothers Day will be a huge gathering this year and Memorial Day weekend a blowout. Probably a good idea to really start prepping for a return to normal life. I suspect for many there are going to be much mental anguish on many fronts. Operation Warp Speed should be Time’s Person of the Year. Nah, if they want to sell magazines, use a pic of Trump signing the EO.

Instacart has pretty big markups on a lot of things, as does Doordash. I think in both cases it is because the supplier doesn't want to eat all the Instacart fees. Here the Instacart selection is pretty limited. I cannot get what I want. I use Kroger Clicklist and Meijer online. Both pick and bring out your order to your car for free and I don't see any markup at all. Picked up at both this morning.

There is also balancing that against the civilians who would have been killed had we not struck. Hard to know, but surely not zero.

@axtremus said in Now you can test if you have free will: No support for virtual keyboard. It's blatant discrimination against the keyboard-less, I tell 'ya! It's also QWERTY-supremacist. F and D, really? Not every keyboard has those two arbitrary keys next to each other.
