@axtremus said in A well regulated: Had my piano voiced a month or two ago. My piano had great regulations (if not objectively great, at least it was at a spot where I liked it very much), so I did not ask for regulations to be done. But the technician claimed that he touched up on the regulations anyway. I know he meant well, but I wish he had not, for afterwards I noticed unwanted mechanical sounds from the action in some places. Not noticeable in louder passages and noticeable in soft passages. :man-shrugging: Why would you bother having it regulated when you never tune it?

[image: 1631077475481-198ef583-ce0c-4881-8adf-2b6465538526.png] It’s there because that’s what I the composer wrote in the original. From wiki In chorales by Johann Sebastian Bach and other composers of the Baroque, the fermata often signifies only the end of a phrase, and a breath is to be taken. In a few organ compositions, the fermatas occur in different measures for the right and left hands and for the feet, which would make holding them impractical. "In the older music the sign for the fermata is used, as frequently by Bach, merely as indicating the end of the piece, after a Da Capo, when modern composers usually write the word 'fine.' It does not then imply any pause in the music between the first and second part of the number."

@doctor-phibes said in Good pay...: Far be it from me to be cynical, but "up to" is one of those terms that gets used a lot by hiring folks when talking about money. Yup, and retail stores too. “Up to 90% off!”

@jolly said in Want to know why you want to get vaccinated?: @aqua-letifer said in Want to know why you want to get vaccinated?: @jolly said in Want to know why you want to get vaccinated?: I don't think they're getting vaccinated in secret. That's grist for the MSM bullshit mill. Pffft. Two old neighbors of mine are still touting the anti-vaxx crap on Facebook after they've been vaccinated. Still putting up a front so their conservative friends don't give them shit for being sheeple or whatever the hell. This shit is happening. You need better neighbors. Well, when I said old neighbors, I meant from my home area. I'm not on the Face spaces, but my folks told me this and how it made meetups a bit awkward.

I taught all 3 daughters how to change a flat tire before I would let them drive. Just sayin. I still had to rescue one because she was on I-90 when her first flat happened, and she was in panic mode.

I love it when people have strong opinions about something and try to project those opinions onto another, unrelated situation.

I have bags of old coins from grandparents. Some super cool stuff and paper money too. The best is a 5 dollar gold piece in really good condition. I priced many several years ago and compared their value to what I could have made in alternate investments…lost every time by holding. But still will keep as family heirloom.

It's not rocket surgery Tell the feds to fuck off and take their money and their rules with them. I think districts will do fine. Sorry, but you don't pay the person teaching calculus the same as the person teaching history. You pay according to talent and try to retain your best. Do get the state university systems involved in the public schools. I want the best starting college as juniors, debt free. Everybody ain't gonna be an engineer or pharmacist, etc. You need older tradesman teaching ag and shop classes. They'll come for less money, if you throw them a retirement bone.

My first router was a "Craftsman." It convinced me that a router could be a useful tool. So I put it into a drawer and bought a Hitachi.

@loki said in Welcome, Delta?: @horace said in Welcome, Delta?: @loki said in Welcome, Delta?: @horace said in Welcome, Delta?: Loki what specifically were you wrong about regarding the economic impact? The safety net that would be effective in blunting impact on people’s lives. I hope you're devoting some of your thinking to the social ideas being reinforced by the magic money safety net. The future impacts of that magic money. Also some corporations actually outperforming. Right, tech has. Probably a good investment. Yeah the magic safety net infused with socialist ideas. Real issue and I do think about it a lot. Why people won’t work is a key. So far people are in two camps at the national level but we will have to wait for the states to try to remove the safety net and see who is right. I can’t imagine a life without working personally, sounds miserable. fify

Hardliners are in control in the newly assigned leadership. Maybe there is a Taliban 2.0 but it’s not what some hoped for and not looking like a Vietnam Renaissance but more like Iran.

@jolly said in Masks vs. Ventilation: @doctor-phibes said in Masks vs. Ventilation: @george-k Yeah, but did he research it online? I'd love to see her response to that comeback. It would be too much to hope that she'd just STFU for ever. And I'm a nuclear physicist. Trust, but verify. Well, according to his LinkedIn page, he's a consultant anaesthetist. Kate Beliot doesn't seem to have a LinkedIn page.
