If you read Kessler's books, you'll find

Biden liked to go skinny-dipping, much to the discomfort of SS agents who indentified were female women.

He's a cheapskate - never having cash on hand to tip waiters, etc, and "borrowing" money from the agents.

He portrays himself as a "regular guy" while being careless with national security.

    He likes to fly

“Agents believe Biden insists on only two vehicles in his motorcade in Delaware because he wants to maintain his image back home as a regular Joe. But besides rendering the country potentially defenseless in the event of a nuclear attack, “he is making the agents vulnerable by not respecting what they need to do and making him more vulnerable in case of an attack on him,” an agent says. “If the bad guy knows that they’re rolling up there short and there’s only two vehicles, it’s easy to spot, and it’s easy to take him out. He would be a sitting duck.”
Thus, according to Secret Service agents, Biden seems to care more about his image than carrying out the only significant responsibility required of him as vice president: to launch retaliatory strikes in the event of a nuclear attack. That dwarfs the only duty the U.S. Constitution assigns to him—choosing whether to vote in the Senate to break a tie.”

“Agents say that, whether at the vice president’s residence or at his home in Delaware, Biden has a habit of swimming in his pool nude. Female Secret Service agents find that offensive.

Excerpt From: Ronald Kessler. “The First Family Detail.” Apple Books.

“The records show Biden thinks nothing of flying back and forth to Wilmington multiple times on the same day. For example, on Friday, February 8, 2013, Biden flew from Andrews to Wilmington and back to Andrews on a C-37A, then returned that same day to Wilmington on a C-20B. Since deadhead flights were required to pick him up or drop him off, that taxi service entailed four flights in one day at taxpayer expense.”

“Vice President Joe Biden may seek to project the image of a regular Joe, friend of the workingman, but Secret Service agents know a different Joe. That Joe champions cutting government waste while spending a million dollars since taking office on personal trips back and forth to his home in Delaware at taxpayer expense.
At least once a week, Biden takes a helicopter designated as Marine Two from the vice president’s residence to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. He then hops on Air Force Two to jet back to his home in Delaware. He returns to Washington on Air Force Two. The cost of the flights is doubled because after dropping him off in Delaware or picking him up at Andrews, the Air Force has to fly the plane empty.”

@mik said in 2020 24 hours to go:

The last meal of 2020 here will be:

Roast rack of lamb with rosemary garlic crust
    Asparagus with tomatoes and garlic
either some miniature gold potatoes or white sweet potatoes

Probably no dessert - after Christmas I never want to see sugar again. If anything some blueberries with a dollop of half and half.

    Outstanding!!

    Well done.

I've done battery and SSD replacements in a couple of MacBook Airs. With a good instructional video from Other World Computing, it's pretty simple, though complicated (I used to tell my residents that heart surgery isn't necessarily hard, just complicated, don't confuse the two).

The hardest part is keeping track of the tiny screws and remembering, or noting, where each one goes.

As a matter of fact, I remember taking apart some "jellybean" iMacs and installing larger hard drives in those (It's that German pr0n, you know).

The government has maintained the same policy now for minutes.

    It is a time-honored process.

It should not be discarded lightly.

I thought this might be a good excuse to toy around with Maple a little, which I have wanted to do for a while.

    Works nicely.

@mik That may not have come out like I wished. I just meant with all the precautions taken (social distancing, masks, washing my hands like crazy, and vitamin supplements that I am peeing the alphabet) I have managed to avoid the Coronavirus. I’ve had several contacts that required isolating and testing... Hell, it was even in my house for two weeks and I still avoided it. Yet I still managed to catch a cold....

I know. Just busting balls, brother.

@george-k said in Got aging parents?:

Talked to the management about it.

We decided that, if someone's going to call and say "I want a video call," it's just as easy for them to call and for her to get her laptop and answer a FaceTime call.

I can certainly see its utility for a lot of people, but for us, it's not worth the $200 for the smaller version, and we don't need another digital photo frame.

Agreed. I see this however as a potential game changer in personal care units, memory units and nursing homes.

Dictionary comes from the Latin word Dictionarium. Latin was THE language of Colonial Imperialism. To continue to use Latin is to use the language of the oppressor.

Knowing that the guy who dropped off the computer signed an agreement stating that if he doesn't retrieve it in 90 days, it becomes the property of the computer repair guy, would you ever trust that guy to be on the board of an energy company?

Sure, why not? I’m not going fire someone from a Board of Directors just because that some one forgot (or even deliberately decided not) to pickup a computer from some repair shop.

If you want to talk information security in a business setting, the security is already breached when you (1) store confidential information on computer where you’re not supposed to, or (2) give a computer with confidential information to a repair shop outside the business’ established IT process.

A Director forgot to pickup his kid’s old Mac or his own old gaming PC from a repair shop is not a problem. That Director storing confidential information on his kid’s Mac or gaming PC and give that Mac/PC to an outside repair shop — that may be a problem.

Greensleeves has been around since the 1500's. As with many other folk songs or music based upon old folk songs, much of it is played today. I daresay music theory entered into the production of none of it.

The sheer volume of today's music means that most of it will be thrown on the ash heap of history, but some will survive.

    It always does.
