This got me thinking and googling

    I found this, mildly interesting

Next, they should throw away all their electric appliances.

    And all their electronic devices.

    And all their electric cars.

@Jolly said in "Damaging a book.":

I don't like it. If the kid wants to bring a Koran to school, it's his business. Just as if some other kid had brought a Bible. As long as the kid is not evangelizing or disrupting a class, leave them alone.

OTOH, I don't like suspending kids for a pretty minor infraction. A public apology, a joint meeting with the local Imam on why the book is sacred to Muslims, then get your ass back in class and don't let it happen again...

    +1

As there was no ill intent, I would not even insist on a public apology or a meeting with an imam.

    @Copper

You should notify those institutions in any case. After all they may not be woke to the facts like you.

While you’re at it, by all means do notify the Israeli Embassy in Washington. They too will thank you.

@Jolly you said "Is Garland senile, out of touch or a raging liar?"

It's possible to be both, isn't it?

I agree with Ax on this. The decrease in the "life" of the product is probably NOT because of increased efficiency. I think they are two different subjects.

@LuFins-Dad said in DeSantis Doubles Down:

    It’s stupid on DeSantis’ part.

Disney doesn’t pay the tolls, the consumers will pay the tolls.

Ultimately Disney won’t pay the taxes, consumers will pay the taxes.

If you do this will it also affect Universal, Busch Gardens, LegoLand, Sea World, and the myriad other resorts and parks in the Orlando area?

I get removing the special exemption, but this is crossing the line, IMO.

Rather than the stick, it’s time for the carrot.

I was thinking the same thing. LOL

This reminds me of the AT.

A shitload of people, for various common reasons—retired, midlife crisis, life reset—get this idea into their heads because:

It's something very much out of their routine They've heard of the AT Therefore, good idea.

What they don't understand is that yes, you will have a worthwhile experience but it's not anywhere close to what you think it's going to be. It's terribly boring for most of it, pitching a tent in a nighttime hailstorm is not romantic and unless you're seriously introverted, spending that much time alone is probably going to fuck with you. (If you're with somebody, the odds that you won't hate them for long stretches are zero.)

I'd say about 10% of those who say "they can see themselves doing that" actually try and of that group, the vast majority drop out.

Fair go to you if you like cruises, though. I doubt I could do it.

Anyone here know/heard what Sting has been up to for about the past decade? 😄 Talk about no fucks given.

I just finished watching Arcane with my daughter on Netflix - he sings the song at the end of the final episode, and I have to say it's really something.

Sting's always been awesome in my humble opinion. I'm glad he's spending his time doing what he wants.
