This reminds me of the AT.
A shitload of people, for various common reasons—retired, midlife crisis, life reset—get this idea into their heads because:
It's something very much out of their routine
They've heard of the AT
Therefore, good idea.
What they don't understand is that yes, you will have a worthwhile experience but it's not anywhere close to what you think it's going to be. It's terribly boring for most of it, pitching a tent in a nighttime hailstorm is not romantic and unless you're seriously introverted, spending that much time alone is probably going to fuck with you. (If you're with somebody, the odds that you won't hate them for long stretches are zero.)
I'd say about 10% of those who say "they can see themselves doing that" actually try and of that group, the vast majority drop out.
Fair go to you if you like cruises, though. I doubt I could do it.
