@George-K said in UK Election: big win for Labour: @AndyD said in UK Election: big win for Labour: lefties like Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott but they seem to serve their local population So voting for avowed anti-Semites is ok as long as they meet your local needs? No, agreed, but people have to choose. You certainly wouldn't want a racist, bigot, misandrist or misogynist voted in as a leader, just as you wouldn't want a convicted criminal, or frail old person. The last 14 years have been pretty awful for Britain, from Dodgy Dave Cameron, throughout the farce that was Boris Johnson and 'era' of Liz Truss, to self-serving Sunak, its been all too easy to discern their lies and read about their shady deals. And Farage is right up there with the worst of them. The idea that he will serve his electorate of Clacton who he insulted only 8 weeks before standing & becoming their MP is surely rather optimistic.

I Googled "Fat American Eating Pizza" and it was quite a bit more representative of reality.

There’s been no hawk tuah here. I was a little surprised. This showed up in my inbox in 6/23. [image: 1720232760041-ee8e710c-f9a0-4fd3-b094-62a368271d17.jpeg] They continued for a week after that easily.

Nothing that an application of club soda and clean cloth dab or, if stubborn, isopropanol and sodium bicarbonate paste can’t remove. Move along.

Let’s see how tonight goes. Personally, I feel like the decision was made long ago, and now we are just watching the show they built around it.

Then, in late October 2021, the leftover liquid from Epopa’s September 25 IV bag was tested, leading to the discovery of the critical error. I suspect in many places this testing never would have occurred and the heart attack etc would have been labeled ‘of unknown origin’.

But farming is not even the top 10 most dangerous professions. Logging is the most dangerous. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/workers-comp/most-dangerous-jobs-america/ They didn’t break it down between fig farming and other types. You would not believe how itchy fig leaves are. The danger of itchy hands and arms is ever present.

@George-K said in High-tech eSTOL aircraft hardly needs any runway: Well.... Well, well, well, I don't know, I have to say the plane is probably real. The video looks kind of fake, maybe it is just a nice day with a nice camera. The thing that got me was that the plane in the video was not at the airport they said (Manassas). I found references to Warrenton as a test site. So, ok, that runway in the video looks like Warrenton. Warrenton is never mentioned in the story, I thought that was suspicious.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/article/2024/jul/05/hard-to-argue-against-mandatory-speed-limiters-come-to-the-eu-and-ni Technology that will be required across Europe from this weekend may change that culture, because from 7 July all new cars sold in the EU and in Northern Ireland must have a range of technical safety features fitted as standard. The most notable of these is intelligent speed assistance – or colloquially, a speed limiter. The rest of the UK is theoretically free, as ministers once liked to put it, to make the most of its post-Brexit freedoms, but the integrated nature of car manufacturing means new vehicles here will also be telling their drivers to take their foot off the accelerator. Combining satnav maps with a forward camera to read the road signs, they will automatically sound an alarm if driven too fast for the zone they are in. and From now on, however, cars will be designed with systems that are impossible to permanently turn off, restarting each time the engine does. and Yousif Al-Ani, the principal engineer for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at Thatcham Research, says: “Modern vehicles are very good at protecting occupants in the event of a collision through passive safety features, such as airbag and crumple zones, but these have limited benefit to vulnerable road users” such as pedestrians and cyclists.
