There is a reason God told man to take every seventh day off. Everybody needs some downtime.

That’s great! I’ll show my daughter tomorrow. She loves leopards and is even sleeping with a clouded leopard stuffed animal (did I really need to clarify that?) tonight.

Texas has safe haven law for one to give up a baby without legal consequences. Guess who ever abandoned the baby just didn't know about it.

https://www.wsj.com/tech/amazon-alexa-devices-echo-losses-strategy-25f2581a Maybe related to the above? The Amazon business unit that focuses on Alexa-powered gadgets lost $25 billion between 2017 and 2021, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported this week. Amazon claims it has sold more than 500,000 Alexa devices, which included Echo speakers, Kindle readers, Fire TV sets and streaming devices, and Blink and Ring smart home security cameras. But since debuting, Alexa, like other voice assistants, has struggled to make money. In late 2022, Business Insider reported that Alexa was set to lose $10 billion that year.

Yeah, it is a tough call. They definitely are good paying jobs. And I guess, when you are young, you think you will live forever and are more willing to take risks (smoking, etc.)

@taiwan_girl said in Down the Nessun Dorma Rathole: @George-K ??? Leonard Bernstein became one of the 20th century's most acclaimed conductors through timing and luck. On November 14, 1943, having recently been appointed assistant conductor to Artur Rodziński of the New York Philharmonic, Bernstein made his major conducting debut at short notice—and without any rehearsal—after guest conductor Bruno Walter came down with the flu. The challenging program included works by Robert Schumann, Miklós Rózsa, Richard Wagner, and Richard Strauss. The next day, The New York Times carried the story on its front page and remarked in an editorial, "It's a good American success story. The warm, friendly triumph of it filled Carnegie Hall and spread far over the air waves." Timing, I'm not sure, had much to do with it, but luck certainly did.

@89th @George-K Wow! That was quite detailed and interesting. I did not realize how the spectator was shot and killed.

@taiwan_girl said in Three For Four: Ive had it twice after being vaccinated. Both times, I just felt really tired for about two days and had slight fever (maybe 1 degree high) and then back to normal. No cough, no loss of taste/smell, etc. Impossible to prove, but I would like to think that the vaccine minimized the symptoms. I’ve had it once, tested negative but I know that Lucas was positive, so pretty sure that I had it. I am/was half vaxed. 1 dose of a 2 dose vax. Slept for 18 hours straight and was fine. Lucas was fully vaxed., though 1 set. Had it 3 times. Moderate symptoms. Karla is unvaxxed. She’s not had it at all, and took care of Lucas and I. I was scared as shit of COVID, initially. But the people I know that have had it the most and the worst? Vaxxed X 2 at least.

@jon-nyc said in Summering in the French Riviera: Well there goes his reputation. LOL. DIdn't VW have an ad during the Super Bowl talking about all their innovations in the last 60 years? Conveniently, those innovations were only after 1950 or so.

They just don’t see the absolute illegality of the programs they are trying to implement, or even grasp how immoral they are and why they are immoral and illegal. This has absolutely nothing to do with the laughable Project 2025 routine they are going through… Trump’s platform is on the web, people, and it is not Project 2025…

On a related note, I learned you can't have a VP from the same state as the President. For example, had Trump (Florida) picked Rubio.... Rubio would've had to (in addition to resigning from the Senate) change his primary residence to another state like Virginia or Nevada.
