@Mik you misspelled "Week" [image: 1721995102981-screenshot-2024-07-26-at-6.58.09-am.png] Still up 13% for the year, however.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Pig Heart Transplant: @Axtremus said in Pig Heart Transplant: Likely there are many other big problems, but I am curious about this: psychologically, how does the patient feel about being alive without having a pulse? I feel weird just thinking about it. :man-shrugging It beats the alternative One alternative is "being alive and having a pulse."

I mean, this election is to save democracy! If somebody is defending and promoting Trump, then they are an enemy of democracy!

I was surprised to hear him brag about "putting a black woman on the supreme court". I don't really think this blatant DEI stuff plays as pure virtue to the electorate.

@Mik said in Trump admin to be tougher on corporations?: Good ideas are good ideas, and monolithic industries are generally not very good for innovation. Banks, for instance. Economies of scale do not always serve the public's best interests. Correct. It chokes competition, innovation and often leads to poor customer service.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/25/gateway-pundit-bankruptcy-filing A bankruptcy judge dismissed a bankruptcy case filed by the Gateway Pundit on Wednesday, saying the far-right outlet did not file the case in good faith. “TGP remains both balance sheet and cash flow solvent. There is no present financial distress, no looming foreclosure sale, no prospect of a market crash. There is only the State Court Litigation in which TGP must defend itself. That’s not a basis for bankruptcy relief; it’s the justice system in operation,” Mora wrote.

Almost like at the end of World War 2, when it was just old men and young boys available.

As circumstantial evidence cases go, that looks like a very weak one.

In other news, is the dailymail the WORST "news" website out there? It's 99% disruptive ads blinking away and if you're lucky you can read the article from start to finish.

@jon-nyc said in I'm a steamroller, baby...: Looks like they’re responding to rules the GOP is making up as they go… In May, the DNC made a push for a virtual process because of Ohio's Aug. 7 deadline for major parties to submit the names of their certified candidates for the November ballot. While Ohio Republicans passed a law that pushed that deadline to Sept. 1, because it does not go into effect until Sept. 1, DNC officials cited potential litigation from Republican groups as a reason to go ahead with the early virtual roll call vote. "If we take chances with state processes and deadlines, Republican groups could make the argument to challenge Democratic votes on the post-election side, arguing that our nominee should never have been on the ballot in the first place," said DNC outside counsel Pat Moore. "We should not and must not give them that opportunity." That line of reasoning was thoroughly debated and debunked by the same people pushing for the roll call now, back when Biden was the presumptive nominee. I believe Vox had an article on it and I remember Nate Silver having an online debate with one of Biden’s staff over it.

@Doctor-Phibes said in "Stop the Fake Band": It's a bit like having a 50 year old broom. You've replaced the brush 3 times, and the handle twice, but it's still the same broom. That is the famous "Ship of Theseus" paradox The ship of Theseus, also known as Theseus’ paradox, is a thought experiment that raises the question of whether an object that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object. The paradox is most notably recorded by Plutarch in Life of Theseus from the late first century. Plutarch asked whether a ship that had been restored by replacing every single wooden part remained the same ship. The paradox had been discussed by other ancient philosophers such as Heraclitus and Plato prior to Plutarch’s writings, and more recently by Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. https://open.library.okstate.edu/introphilosophy/chapter/ship-of-theseus/

71% of pro-trump voters from 2016 failed to vote in the 2020 primary. That’s par for the course in uncompetitive primaries.

@Jolly said in Now I feel like crap....: Fear is the beginning of respect. I'm not talking about irrational fear or dread, just the acknowledgement that the boss does have the authority to bring the hammer and will do so if it has to be. I suspect the silence wasn't fear as much as sulking.
