Either way, it’s a step. Next up will be the legal challenges, and ultimately Congress needs to address it.

I’m missing the tomato and meat, but the spices are on point and oyster crackers are great. A fine product! SO Cincinnati.

JD's Voice: "Today I was berated for not getting my discharges done before noon but also for not seeing the sickest patients first. I also lost access to the doctors lounge for billing too many 99213 and not enough 99215." Cut to scene of JD, bleary eyed, trying to click through a MAR hold.

I'm not clear who can make the decision to keep the vote private. Came across this, as one article's justification for opposition to Tulsi: Critics argue that her stance on national security issues, particularly her opposition to the PATRIOT Act and Section 702 of the FISA Amendment, could make her unsuitable for the DNI role. I respect opposition to the PATRIOT Act. Found this about Section 702 Fisa: WASHINGTON — The Biden administration faces an uphill battle to reauthorize a key surveillance tool, known as Section 702, before it expires at the end of the year as members of both parties of Congress push for big changes. Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, allows the government to conduct targeted surveillance of foreign nationals living outside the U.S. without needing to obtain a warrant. It has become increasingly controversial over the years. As recently as this month, a court opinion disclosed that FBI employees wrongly searched foreign surveillance data for the last names of a U.S. senator and a state senator. The opinion also said that another FBI employee ran a query using the Social Security number of a state judge who complained about alleged civil rights violations by a municipal chief of police. Critics of Section 702 worry that its powers are too broad and allow for the "incidental" collection of data on U.S. citizens and that the provision is ripe for abuse. I don't think I'll get too worried over opposition to that, either. But not mentioned was her perspective on Russia/Ukraine.

Difficult to imagine Biden being briefed with detailed information about something, and then making some sort of affirmative decision based on that information.

@89th said in SCOTUS possibilities: I think it depends how the economy looks like 1-2 years. If it's getting better, that increases the likelihood of Vance taking over from 2029-2033, which may slow any conservative retirements. I'd imagine Sotomayor will hold on until death similar to RGB so as not to give Trump a slot. Diabetic.

@Horace said in Come on, America: Well, I think the "free market" has always been a joke when it comes to health care, so I'm not too concerned with putting out feelers for this sort of thing. It seems to me that the only real thing that differentiates different health-care systems is which parts suck. So, you can choose whether you prefer horrendously high premiums, enormously long waiting lists, inability to find a GP, etc. etc. Hopefully not all of the above, unless you live somewhere really bad.

My father was a high school headmaster in Boston in the 70s. He had metal detectors in his school. And I remember a couple big boxes in our basement full of knives. The detectors worked.

@George-K said in $Swag$: @LuFins-Dad said in $Swag$: Most of this is end of the year acquisitions.A department or agency realizes that they are $75 Million under budget, and they need to spend it or get their budget slashed next year. And that's the problem - the "We gotta spend it because if we don't, we'll lose it next year" thinking. Totally. @LuFins-Dad had a good idea a while back about rewarding agencies that come in under budget.
