@Jolly said in DACA Dollars: You know what, scooter? Life ain't fair. And man is not perfect. The only way to have a functioning society, is to have fair laws, reasonably enforced to try to create equal justice under those laws. People who break laws should be treated with a modicum of compassion, but break the law they did. Therefore, should they be rewarded or penalized? The only logical thing to do, is to penalize them in some way, not reward them, which is what you desire to do. And then you wish to double down and increase the number of people entering the country illegally. Newsflash, scooter...Those illegals are sucking resources. Money that either should never have been spent or money that should be spent on citizens. Schools, healthcare, infrastructure, etc., all cost more than they should, factoring in the illegals. Read on the news today: https://nypost.com/2023/03/03/bidens-migrant-mess-costing-new-york-city-5-million-a-day/ That's $5,000,000/day in one city. Now, tell me again about how wonderful illegals are?

@89th said in Parler is back: Their slogan ends with "speak free"... Shouldn't it be "speak freely"? Yes, I know Apple's famous slogan should also be Think Differently. "Speak free" could just be a riff off of Apple, but I doubt that's all there was to it. There's a growing trend in some corners of U.S. conservative marketing that, thinking about it now, is a lot more prevalent in Australia. (Some of Cooper's new beer ads offer pretty good examples.) Pragmatic plain-speaking is seen as a virtue whereas sounding educated in a particular way is not a good look. I'd bet part of the tone there was deliberate.

@LuFins-Dad said in At the Ballet: Has anybody considered the dancer that didn’t make the cut in favor of this guy? Somewhere deep down I have faith that a position was opened for this person, which did not take away from the normal positions. I mean the admissions people are apes like everybody else, and they've devoted their lives to the pursuit of this art. The admissions category for this specimen would be beyond obvious for them, regardless of cultural programming.

Bro gets props for using "Tocquevillian localism" and "LARPing" in the same paragraph. Loses some points, though, for using the latter unconfidently. Same goes for Pac-Man. Anyway, yeah, good points.
