Dear Leader is getting a bit old for all this influence. Presumably the favored successor will be his charming offspring, Jnr. Maybe he can ditch Airforce One and build an armored train. It would help rejuvenate the steel industry.

So is San Fran. The most extreme example is the Millennium Tower. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/investigations/series/millennium-tower/san-francisco-millennium-tower-more-tilting/3249034/

The waveforms might be mostly garbage, but they look like they are nicely synchronized. It was probably plugged into the surgeon's 5-channel graphic equalizer. He was just messing with the pretty colors.

In 2017, life was normal except that I was having a lot of back pain. I went to the emergency room and a scan showed a lesion on my liver. A local gastroenterologist said it was nothing to worry about and said we’d check it in six months. What kind of scan? An ER ultrasound? I went to another doctor who said, “Let’s just go and do an MRI.” It turned out to be stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasized to my liver. Any lesion should be investigated. "Don't worry about it" is not appropriate. 4 years later there's a recurrence. If it's so big that it grown into the pelvis, you'd think that routine surveillance would have found it. Also, her symptoms of painful gas, the feeling of not emptying your bowel should have been clues. I'll wait for someone who knows more about this than me - like @bachophile , but it sounds like it was mismanaged all around.

It was an interesting experience moving to the US. As we had absolutely no credit history, our score was awful. I tried applying for a Visa with one of the big companies, and they rejected me. Twats. We were then inundated with offers from the sleaziest bunch of asshole companies you can imagine, with just horrendous interest rates, and awful terms and conditions. Then suddenly, once we developed a credit history, they stopped, and the big companies started sending offers. Luckily, my company has a credit union, and they gave me a card. It was an eye-opener on what you can expect if you've got a bad credit rating. Scumbags all the way down. Hawley's proposal would mean people with a bad score wouldn't be able to get credit. Maybe that would be a good idea, but the void would surely be filled by other lending alternatives, so the problem wouldn't go away. Better a scummy credit card than the guy in the little shop underneath the barbers with all the baseball bats.

@Aqua-Letifer said in Yeah, consider the source...: Where, though? Some neighborhoods have always been bad. Of course. You can say the same thing about Chicago. For decades, there have been areas that I would not enter at night, and probably not in daylight either. But in Chicago, the wave is spilling into other areas as well. The Loop has seen an uptick in robberies, as has the Mag Mile.

I think it is, but it's going to have to be done by peers of these groups. A NE Republican in a suit ain't gonna cut it.

[image: 1694570732359-screenshot-2023-09-12-at-9.04.42-pm.png] To Kill a Mockingbird was "banned?" Why yes. Yes it was. The iconic novel "To Kill A Mockingbird" is among five books on race that have been temporarily removed from the required reading list in the Burbank Unified School District after complaints from parents. Among many issues, several of the books include the "N" word. Carmenita Helligar raised a red flag when her daughter, the only Black student in her class, was confronted and berated by another student after studying one book. "The boy said, 'I now know how to count you. And he started saying, 'One, 'N-word,' two 'N-word,' three 'N-word,' just to make her feel bad," said Helligar, who is a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. The district says the five books are still available in schools, but they are not on the list of core books that all students must read. So, not "banned" but removed from required reading because they were offensive. "Lube" "Ass" etc are not, apparently, offensive. You'd think they'd ban not require Go Set A Watchman before To Kill A Mockingbird. The sad thing is, many of them actually think Mockingbird was banned, and it was banned because evil racist white rural school boards hate civil rights. You sir, are correct.

The GOP will vote. The inquiry may not pass. You do that to play by the rules, for the good of the country. Compare that with Pelosi's declaration, without vote. Nope. He declared, no vote. Presumably you’re pissed about that? You know, “good of the country” and all? I'd like to have seen a vote.

I still use the term “slick press” over mainstream media. It’s always been there, its purpose is not so much to inform with accuracy, but rather gain readership and earn advertising dollars. Hence it’s clever and slick.
