@Jolly said in F-22 vs. FA-50: But follow the link for the FA-50. A lot of capability for a cheap (relatively) combat aircraft. Yeah, you've been evangelizing cheap combat aircraft for years. Indeed, the FA-50 seems very capable. But, for a real test, put it up against its peer-aircraft. Or, in a real-world situation, when the planes are not crippled, the ROE are not restrictive, when weapons systems are all functioning, how long would a flight of cheap aircraft hold up against half a dozen Raptors? I'm not denying the role of cheap fighter and CAS support aircraft <cough> Hawg <cough>. THey're essential. My only comment is that this is not a real-world test. But, people smarter than I am designed the games, so I'll shut up.

@LuFins-Dad said in They tried...: I kind of feel that finding this wrong says a little more about you than him. Porn is horrible. The rampant trafficking of young women, the depression and psychological issues that lead to massive suicide and drug abuse problems, and even just the degradation and misogyny involved with it? It’s degrading to women and it’s degrading to men. The fact that he’s trying to protect his kid in what fashion he can is laudable. Now I’m sure somebody is going to show an example of hypocrisy where an evangelical proclaimed one thing about porn but lived another. That doesn’t make the effort and attempt any less laudable. All have fallen short of the glory of God. That doesn’t mean you don’t try. This.

@taiwan_girl said in Trial Balloon: But you didn't answer my question. According to Sen. Menendez, it is a witch hunt because he is Cuban. According to politician X, it is a witch hunt because he is Y. Who decides? Why is some public official in Florida better knoweldgable about the President Trump trials than anybody else? If President Biden is brought on trial, everybody from the "other side" will say it is a witch hunt. Should the same public official offer to pay? If my side is on trial, it is unjust. If the other side it on trial, it is a righteous trial. Think bigger. Think concept. Start with the basic right of anybody to be tried fairly. You're so hung up on your rail riding through political tribes, you don't see the overreach of the government and the abrogation of a basic right.

That certainly is a bad law. I can understand that someone is incompetent to stand trial. But that does not mean that they should go free. They should be in a mental hospital getting treatment for at least the same amount of time as if they were sentenced to jail.

@George-K said in Momento Mori: That way they'll be able to get rid of Harris and usher in Newsom (who is totally not running, amirite?) or someone else (Whitmer? Pritzker?). I think you are correct (as usual) https://www.axios.com/2023/11/06/newsom-pritzker-south-carolina-elections California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker both recently cut checks for a candidate in this month's mayoral election in Charleston, S.C., Axios has learned. Why it matters: The donations to Charleston candidate Clay Middleton signal White House ambitions for both governors, as South Carolina recently moved to the front of the Democratic presidential primary calendar. The moves by Newsom and Pritzker are part of a larger pattern of ambitious Democrats upping their national profiles ahead of 2028 or even 2024 in the unlikely case President Biden decides not to run for re-election in the face of poor poll numbers.

@LuFins-Dad said in The New FBI HQ: @George-K said in The New FBI HQ: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/fbi-director-sounds-alarm-on-biden-appointee-selecting-site-owned-by-former-employer-for-new-bureau-hq/ Wray and others are questioning the site selection decision by Nina Albert, who was a Biden-appointed General Services Administration commissioner, because the site she chose for the FBI’s future headquarters in Greenbelt, Md., is owned by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, her former employer. Albert, a long-time Washington, D.C., insider, worked in prominent positions for the transit authority for over five years before she was tapped to join the GSA in 2021. Greenbelt, Md., was officially announced as the site for the new FBI headquarters on Thursday. In choosing Greenbelt, Albert overruled a three-member panel of lifetime FBI and GSA officials who unanimously concluded that a site in Springfield, Va., would be the best location. Attempts to reach Albert on Friday were unsuccessful. In an internal message to FBI employees obtained by National Review, Wray expressed concerns about the process a “senior executive” used to choose Greenbelt over Springfield, and about the appearance of a conflict of interest. Wray did not name Albert in his message, but she is the one who signed off on a 38-page document explaining the site-selection process, and people with knowledge of the situation identified her as the decision-maker. In his message to staff, Wray wrote that “the FBI raised serious concerns about the appearance of a lack of impartiality by the GSA senior executive given the executive’s previous professional affiliation with the owner of the selected site.” Gee. I wonder what made Albert choose a site owned by her former bosses and override the panel charged with that decision. @Aqua-Letifer can tell you there is nothing to see here. Washington Metro Employees would never do anything corrupt or reeking of cronyism, honest! Bro what the hell are you on.
