I supported the use of the Emergencies Act to the end the occupation at the time and, in retrospect l, still do. The judge’s decision last week will be appealed to a higher court. It will continue along that path and will likely end up in the Supreme Court. It probably should. That’s all that matters to me.

In any case the article is not about Canada, it’s elites, or the use of the Emergencies Act. Rather the article is about US politics and the Biden administration. All the scribble about Canada is little more than convenient ornaments adorning the author’s narrative about what does not like in the US.

Par for course in what comes out of the slick US media outlets about the world outside.

When truckers, and others, interfere with free trade, free movement, etc., they are no different than the asshats who wave Palestinian flags outside O'Hare's expressways. Your right to demonstrate ends where my right to shop, travel, and do business begins.

That said, how do you feel about "de-banking" these people - freezing their assets and limiting their ability to access them?

No issue, didn’t bother me at all. They brought it on themselves.

You are correct about Elites, but I don't think the article is limited to the U.S. or to just an American viewpoint. Rather, it notes that it's a widespread phenomena.

Even in protest, a person should be secure in their assets, unless adjudicated differently.

Maybe, maybe not. In this case, the latter.

And as for elites, I agree there are elites in every society regardless of its political structure.

Block a highway, and lose your bank access?

Yes, that is one tool the invocation of the Emergencies Act offers. Only temporary but seemingly quite effective in quelling the disturbance.

What happens when it's a disturbance you support?

I don’t support disturbances in general and certainly not disturbances of any sort that would facilitate cause to invoke the Emergencies Act.
