I think my school did some of these things too. Those last weeks were celebratory. I, though, could not attend. It was determined I had the wrong PhysEd course for my university entrance (my credits were from another school), so in order for a mark to be submitted for the right course, the principal and PhysEd teachers had me doing all sorts of stupid stuff during grad week. One of my tasks was to have the grade 10s practice their golf drives in the field, another was chaperoning students to a local 9 hole course.

I wonder if he used the same microphones and speakers in the broadcast booth as the ones he used in getting the opponents play calls back in the early 2000s?

Nah. I have had both. I see no reason to spend more money when I have two perfectly good Lenovo Yogas, one in the sunroom, one in my upstairs office. Both have been remarkably trouble free. Life is good. One I bought in 2018, one in 2022.

ChatGPT’s words: Trump’s framing of a “spinoff with guarantees” underscores the asymmetry: it would remove federal control while preserving federal support — a setup many critics view as “heads Wall Street wins, tails taxpayers lose.”

I have a friend who has a catering business in Champaign/Urbana, and it is one of her favorite restaurants. She recommend to me, but it was too crowded the night I went by there.

@xenon said in Social Media vetting for student visas: Stuff like this has such a chilling effect on tourism. I know a bunch of Canadians who just don't want to bother with the border any more https://fortune.com/2025/05/23/us-could-lose-23-billion-gdp-230000-jobs-foreign-tourists-trump-tariffs/ Tariff bluster, canceled visas, and enhanced screening at border crossings and other checkpoints may be pushing foreigners to put a pin in their plans to visit the U.S. this year. The impacts could ripple through America’s economy. A 10% drop in international tourism this year—based on the decline in foreign visitors to the U.S. by air in March—could cost America $23 billion in gross domestic product and the equivalent of roughly 230,000 jobs, according to estimates from Implan chief economist Jennifer Thorvaldson.
