You can argue that it was about giving to kids, but maybe she was going to give it to a kid that wasn’t there? And even then, it’s a nice thing to do, but it’s not a moral imperative to do so. It doesn’t matter that he gave it to his kid or that it was the kids birthday. It was because his instinct said I’m big enough, fast enough, that I can get that ball before her and he chose to follow that instinct. That’s behavior that a polite society is supposed to frown upon. Not at all. A ball lands in the stands, it’s not “oh you go first” it’s fun to see who can get to it first. It landed in his row… in fact I think it’s a bigger sin to go into someone else’s row to get a ball, if there is any sin here at all!

I would love to visit Vermont. Seems quite pretty there.
