Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Porto, totally blacked out. Subways stopped in place, intercity trains stopped, airports shut down. Traffic chaos as traffic lights don’t work.

I was in both countries this month. Glad I missed it but feel bad for everyone.

These things will happen in developing nations. I'm just happy for them that they're developing their electricity infrastructure. The progression is usually fire->electricity->American football.

      Education is extremely important.

You're really begging for an extended power outage with that one.

It's just lucky for you there's no God.

        I was only joking

I saw the president of the autonomous community of madrid wants to activate Emergency Plan 3, which basically lets the military directly help out. Those on the more paranoid side of the spectrum also know this can lead to political and administrative actions...

In other news, I had fun reading more about the "autonomies" that make up Spain. Interesting...almost like they are states with their own mini governments but without judicial branches.

I can understand that. I just reread Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia while on my trip (listened this time, read it before).

Wait, wasn’t Spain in the news last week for going with completely renewable energy?

This seems grid related not source related.
