@axtremus said in Anybody watching Wandavision?: If you have watched the Avengers movies #2 (“Ultron”) and #3 (“Infinity War”), you have enough background to make sense of Wanda Vision. I would add End Game to that list as well.

@doctor-phibes said in Thoughts on "our new normal": @horace said in Thoughts on "our new normal": @doctor-phibes said in Thoughts on "our new normal": I have a team meeting every couple of days, and have a couple of people I'm getting a bit concerned about. I think if you live alone, particularly where the lockdowns are more draconian, this situation could get really miserable. I have a team member in the UK, and there's another guy in Dublin, and they are struggling. How are their symptoms presenting? High stress, anxiety, over-reacting to relatively minor things That must be hard to watch. One of my husband's coworkers got with 3-4 other single co-workers and rented a beach house together. I thought that was a great idea. Much better than being alone.

@loki I’m not sure I understand your question...If a flag was used during an insurrection does it make a difference to who? The insurrectionists? The general public? And what kind of a difference? Does it make it better? Like “Well, they tried to stop the certification of electors but they were wearing flag t-shirts so they must not be too bad...” ? Or do you mean, “It was bad enough what they did, but to do it under the guise of patriotism and the flag is worse!”? If it’s the latter, I agree. Glad they are going to jail. Have they arrested the guys that trashed the Steinway store in Philly yet?

Is there a little hydropower generator built into the thing? How else you’re going to power the electronics? And do they use discreet mechanical buttons for controls? Why would you do that when you know he users will fiddle with the controls with wet fingers? EDIT/addendum: found my answer, the speaker is removable and you charge it through a USB port.

They managed to shit in their own house, the Senate. The normal people exit. Pack the Supreme Court and it will be another toxic dumping ground. Nice work.

Wow, way cool. The USA is kinda small on that chart, isn't it? Hey Klaus, when you get it all nice, how about taking a picture so we can see how it looks. I suppose it is made in China? That's not a dig, actually it would seem rather appropriate!

@copper said in Okay this is hilarious.: I had more than a few pints in the pub where Mr. Hood used to drink Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, claims to be the oldest in the UK, 800+ years I bet JD has been there Very cool. Some of those english pubs are quite neat. I took a "Jack the Ripper" walking tour in London one time, and the last stop was a pub near one of the murders. They ended it by saying that Jack the Ripper may have drink there! Of course, there is no idea, but fun to think of.

@copper said in The Return of the Coffin Nail: The gross margin on cigarette taxes must be very attractive to Biden democrats. I read an interesting article on why mainland china did not have more anti smoking things in place, considering the health costs because of smoking. Up until (somewhat) relatively recently, the state tobacco bureau had a monopoly on all cigarettes, and the taxes and profits off of cigarettes was very huge.

The country's bonkers enough already. "Further" to the right? Trump was conservative? I am led to believe that he was a cult of personality pretending to be conservative. I didn't mean further to the right than Trump, I meant further to the right than they are now. If you prefer, I could say 'even more fucking bonkers', so that you've got a bunch of conspiracy theorists and QAnon kooks competing with left-wing idiots like AOC. Trump was an opportunist, IMO. All that Bible stuff and embracing guns and the flag - sheesh, was anybody taken in by that? I was certainly never sold on his devotion to Christianity, nor to the military. No, but many were, or at least were engaging in a willing suspension of disbelief. Politicians say the darndest things, but in the end, it's how my own politics color everything they do that matters. Amen. NNTTM. You can attempt to heap shame on those who choose a side politically, but in the end choosing a side is the only way to achieve any of the miniscule political power an individual has. Or you can vote third party because your preference is to not be associated with real politics but rather the idea that you're above it all. I guess the nightmare would be that that third party politician would win, then you'd have to take some personal responsibility for your support of a politician that would almost certainly be more ridiculous than the ones for whom you find support unconscionable.

I'm not sure that's a real resume. Is there even a "River Brook University?" Googling it, I only see it on sample resumes.

For other highly imaginative and decidedly fictitious ways to recharge a TAH with built-in batteries, see Crank: High Voltage (2009). I would put it in my "lame movie" thread except I can't find link to a freely streamable version of it. :man-shrugging:
