If you know how important the presumption of agency is, how ridiculous does that make all the permanent victim messaging that destroys that presumption? Is it evil messaging on the part of those smart enough to understand how much damage it does, but who also recognize the social power they can wield with it? Or is it ignorant messaging employed by high status echo chamber dwellers eating their virtuous marshmallow? I think it's short sighted ignorance born mostly of a competitive virtuousness, wanting to look and feel more moral than the next person.
I think I am inclined to participate in a vaccine trial for COVID-19, but like Klaus, I would want to weigh whatever information I can get to (1) get a sense of whether I can trust the people running the trial, (2) whether I would feel "safe enough" to take the vaccine, (3) whether I can give them the time they need to conduct the trial properly.
I don't see what the political damage is of doing a light convention. Still have it in person, but trim down the attendee list. Have the delegates run their process a bit differently.
Just change it - no one will care, and it doesn't look bad to say "we really wanted to do it in person... but too bad we can't"
I get all the NC drama leading up to this - but really, no one is going to care or remember.
I dont care a whit if they Wish to denigrate themselves in that matter, although that is a large part of the problem - self loathing and self defeating behavior.
But there’s no justification then to get all weeweed up up someone else does.
I'd definitely be in favour of more transparency and openness from these sites regarding how they handle these things.
And that's what most of the content creators went. Just give them some firm rules and don't keep changing the goalposts.
Problem with that is that it is political, to some extent. Companies don't want to have their ads associated with the Bad People of the Month, so they have to move the goalposts necessarily to ensure that.

Anybody who looks at that video and worries about the girl, should consider themselves lucky that they have no idea how mortifying lint on the back of crocodiles can be. #CheckYourPrivilege
