@mik said in Famine & Politics: Fascinating. We always think off Africa when famines are mentioned. I guess it stands to reason it would be in the areas of greatest population, i.e. Asia. Agree. That was interesting. George

@brenda said in Sid and Mag: I love that they can get along that well. Well, "get along" ≠ "respect." Maggie turned 5 a while ago - she's entering her "womanhood." She's becoming more affectionate, though not very much so. Sid is going to be 25 in August. He's very much set in his ways.

@klaus https://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/how-the-4-skyhawk-ruled-the-skies-21967 Combined with its reliability, simplicity and low operating costs—only $3,000 per flight hour compared to $42,000 for an F-15—the Skyhawk remained popular as a trainer well into the 1990s. Several Skyhawks continued to be flown by private firms in the role of military trainers today.

I'd rather have mean tweets and economic prosperity, thank you. So, you were big President Clinton fan? LOL (Just teasing, but how do you define economic prosperity?) A rising tide for all individuals.

I am curious to know what exactly their plan was to identify Bill 37 in a field of other Bills.

"Rittenhouse took the lives of innocent people with the intent to do so—by strapping an assault rifle to himself in a crowd of unarmed citizens. That is the textbook definition of intention. Uh, no it isn’t. I think the school needs to look at some of their admissions standards in the other direction….

There’s no way that boat made it that far without an army of tug boats. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?

The Smithfield Little Theatre is back up and running. We have the season subscription. Last month was Virginia Wolf. We went opening night. There were maybe 30 people in 175 seats. That was Thursday night, I assume attendance improved over the weekend. Next up is Clue in February.

@taiwan_girl said in Using the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to make profit for the tax payers: @george-k said in Using the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to make profit for the tax payers: Charles Lane (WSJ) said the biggest mistake of doing this is letting the people think that the president actually has some control over gasoline prices. This Julia Horowitz (see CNN tweet above) obviously disagrees, at least for now.
