Obviously they should build this on top of Mt Everest so as to get a head start. Cool idea, btw... doubt it would ever work and holy crap does that thing need to be precise when it releases the rocket. Also, never any humans...can you imagine the G forces?

havent seen it but i just heard a historian mention it on a podcast i listen to, basically saying it was 21th century conceptions and sensitivities dressed in middle age costumes. sort of anachronistic stuff not really devoted to being an accurate portrayal of the actual time setting. so i can see how historians might not like it.

@mik said in Curious…MFR is sick again.: And she is fine again this morning. She had shaking chills last night. We have thought UTI for a long time but she was tested twice negative. Two different docs. How has she been doing the rest of today?

Well done, Renauda! Both you and your wife made this a very welcoming space. I love it.

@mik said in You say you want a revolution?: That's stupid. You can't 'outlaw Roe v Wade'. It's not a law. t's a ruling. It can be overturned, but not outlawed. One might expect a senator would understand that. I know, it hurts my head that such a thing is not obvious to the senator.

Good, shut the loop hole down. It would be worse to not shut a loop hole down just because Biden is using it.

@klaus said in Who dis?: @taiwan_girl said in Who dis?: One of my bucket list items is to visit St. Helena, where Napoleon was exiled for a while and he ended up dead there. They recently opened up an airport there, so it is no longer a 7 day sea voyage from South Africa. I read somewhere that it is a dull place and the only reason why tourists visit is that piece of history. Yes, I agree the history (and isolation) is probably the only main reasons to go there. I wrote to their tourism department a while back asking for information on visiting, and they sent me a very nice package of material (DVD, thick "book" on sites, etc.). Maybe they dont get too many inquiries. LOL

@mik said in Famine & Politics: Fascinating. We always think off Africa when famines are mentioned. I guess it stands to reason it would be in the areas of greatest population, i.e. Asia. Agree. That was interesting. George

@brenda said in Sid and Mag: I love that they can get along that well. Well, "get along" ≠ "respect." Maggie turned 5 a while ago - she's entering her "womanhood." She's becoming more affectionate, though not very much so. Sid is going to be 25 in August. He's very much set in his ways.

@klaus https://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/how-the-4-skyhawk-ruled-the-skies-21967 Combined with its reliability, simplicity and low operating costs—only $3,000 per flight hour compared to $42,000 for an F-15—the Skyhawk remained popular as a trainer well into the 1990s. Several Skyhawks continued to be flown by private firms in the role of military trainers today.
