Last week, the entire police department in Kenly, North Carolina, resigned, citing a "hostile" work environment less than two months after Justine Jones, a Black woman, began her role as the town's newly selected city manager. Joy Wright, a local business owner, said the community is concerned about what the collective police retreat means for the future of the town. Wright also said she was mostly frustrated because the town hadn't been keeping residents in the loop with any developments. "It's just weird, and for us to not have any information as to what to expect," Wright said. "Are we going to have police? Are we going to have a town manager?" Following an emergency, closed-door meeting last week, the Kenly town council released a statement this week saying, "The prudent course of action is to find out what happened and not make any rash decisions." Alan "Chip" Hewett, Kenly's town attorney, told CNN that he will oversee an investigation conducted by an outside firm starting next week when all the resignations take effect. Technically, the police chief and officers are still on the job through the beginning of next week. The police chief's resignation is effective Tuesday. CNN obtained eight resignation letters in total, consisting of longtime police chief Josh Gibson, four full-time officers, one part-time officer and two town clerks. The letters are similar in language, with most referencing a stressful work environment, though they don't provide any details about the allegedly "hostile" workplace, nor do they explicitly blame Jones. However, Gibson has placed blame on Jones for the resignation -- both in a Facebook post that has since been made private and in an exclusive interview with Fox News. Gibson told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that Jones had written him up multiple times in her short time on the job. And in the 15th paragraph..... Others in the community say they believe there is not a racial component to the situation due to the fact the previous town manager was a Black man. Not much more you can do after reporting the incident to AT&T. A family member received emails from (what looks like) Washington DC’s welfare department about getting government welfare from the District — this despite said relative has never applied for any government welfare and has never been a DC resident. I helped said relative reported it to an publicly listed email address published on an official DC welfare website, and that’s it. No idea if anyone in that welfare department does anything about it. Also seen emails claiming to be from a bank that underwrites an Amazon.com credit card — despite not having applied for any Amazon.com credit card. That’s also being reported as “spam” then basically ignored.

A couple of things... Caribou fur is different from many animals. The hair is hollow, giving it more insulating properties than many other types of fur. And given the type of ground the animals usually live on, they're hell on knives. I do think we have mismanaged some of those herds and we really need to take a hard look at indigenous people and how many they are allowed to kill. Secondly, the fur market is pretty lousy today. Most of the fur comes from the mink ranches and many of those have bit the dust due to low prices. Wild fur is no better...When I was a young man, a green-rolled coon hide would fetch over $10 and a properly stretched one would fetch $15+, along with getting a few dollars for the meat (Trivia: Why do you leave one paw unskinned on a coon carcass?) Today, you'd be hard-pressed to get $5...That ain't worth the price of traps and the time it takes. Fur, if managed properly, is a sustainable resource that will outlast many synthetic fabrics and is superior to most of them in some applications.
