@Jolly said in The problem with ranked voting...: So, a majority of people can choose a candidate as their number one selection, yet that candidate can lose the race? No. Ranked choice only comes into play if no one gets a majority. It’s basically just a pre-registered set of runoffs. If Murkowsky beats Tshibaca it will be because more Alaskans prefer Murkowsky over her, period.

I didn't read them all, but at least a couple of these had to do with using convicts as a labor force without pay. Is it slavery for California to use prisoners as a labor force without pay? No Because they can't afford the $15/hour minimum wage. So, in this case, slavery is OK.

Well, a wakeup call is better than stumbling around in the dark. In my view the two key factors were the Roe decision and...you guessed it...Trump. As was said earlier, it's a small price to pay if we can get rid of him.

"As far as I'm concerned, it's a damned shame that a field as potentially dynamic and vital as journalism should be overrun with dullards, bums, and hacks, hag-ridden with myopia, apathy, and complacence, and generally stuck in a bog of stagnant mediocrity." -- Hunter S. Thompson

@jon-nyc said in What’s your over/under on when impeachment proceeding start?: I’m talking about proceedings. Jewish Space Laser chick filed articles of impeachment on Biden’s first day in office. You said: Articles were introduced on January 21st 2021, the day after he was inaugurated, by the Jewish Space Laser chick. I think they have one co-sponsor. I said: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-resolution/438 There was talk earlier, but the actual filing occurred in July. So 6 ½ months. No proceedings were filed for Trump until the time you cited, but one article was filed about 6 months after inauguration. You made it sound like BDS because of the 1 day after inauguration. I simply pointed out that TDS had the courtesy to wait 6 months.
