@Doctor-Phibes said in Bongino's Wild Theory: Ramaswamy hasn't got a chance of making it through the primaries IMNSHO. If he does gain traction, one can only shudder to think of the nickname that HWSNBN will think up for him. I'm mostly interested in how the left frames him, should he win the nomination. Of course that's only likely, if Trump is somehow kept from running. I would actually bet on Ramaswamy in a race between him and DeSantis. <Insert obligatory "it's early yet" here.>

@89th said in Yeah, it's hot.: That heat sucks. Last weekend a golfer (Lucas Glover) won a pro tournament but got lots of jokes about him sweating through his pants. Well it was like 95 degrees there and a dewpoint of 80. That is nearly off the charts for humid... any dewpoint about 60 in the summer is too high for me, it's one reason I moved to Minnesota (for real). I know I have shared this before about Bangkok, but to make you appreciate Minesoooota more. The vertical axis is the % of the day at each particular dew point category. [image: 1692117819505-img_7793.jpg] Dry <55 Comfortable = 56 - 60 Humid = 61 - 65 Muggy = 66 - 70 Oppressive = 71 - 75 Miserable = > 76 Currently 1145 pm, and dew point = 75. From May through October, about 95% of the time, it is >70, regardless of time of day. But, the great thing about humans is that we do adapt, and become (somewhat) used to it.

@Aqua-Letifer said in Question for the cyclists: Back in the day, Mayor Fenty (who was into tris) put in a shitload more bike lanes to help with the safety issue. Oh shit, I forgot about that dude! I saw him in a triathlon I was in (I think in Columbia, MD?) like 15 years ago. I don't remember his policies or politics but thought it was cool he would just race with normal idiots like me.

Interesting. My Dad’s brother served as a Machinist’s Mate on an LST in WW-II. It would be great to tour one.

True that, although in cases where there is an information asymmetry you can probably take advantage of that. For example, if you have always practiced good livin’ and your family lives to 100? Delay it. Have you never met a vice you didn’t like and your dad and grandfather died in their 60s? Take it early.

@Jolly said in He ain't no Kingfish: Term limited. Ah okay. I just read about his assassination. I wonder if running out of the Capital building made his blood pump harder and did more damage than if he would have stayed in place and waiting for medical care right there.

@Jolly said in “..who, by the way, remains free to this day…”: In this case, maybe not. Trump views it as a First Amendment right and what better way to FasTrack this to SCOTUS? But what about when a judge does a "gag order" on a case, which sometimes happens in criminal cases? I thought it was illegal then to talk about the case. (I realize my sources of information is from various true crime podcasts......... LOL)

Fucking awesome. In much of the city they view the bike lane as a special lane reserved for double parking.

Speaking of Elon, Sam Harris has divorced from his former friend. Elon, for his part, recently called Sam insane. Sam is angry enough to not miss opportunities to take public shots, and on his recent podcast, lumped Elon in with Andrew Tate and RFK Jr. The reasoning is something about how they don't care enough about January 6, as compared to the too-easy, too-obvious excesses of the left. Unclear what we should do about January 6 and what sort of attitude your Musks and RFK Jrs are supposed to have, to prevent it from happening again. Something tells me that Sam's solution has nothing to do with better Capitol security, though. Maybe he wants more social shaming of Trump supporters, that oughta do it.
