@Doctor-Phibes said in Be like Argentina: @LuFins-Dad said in Be like Argentina: Conspiracy? Maybe on a local level, but nothing all that grand. Just a thumb on the scales here or there by well meaning folk trying to prevent Orange Hitler. That's not what the people who believe the election was stolen think happened. I think the single worst thing that Trump has done since he initially ran for President is to destroy a lot of people's confidence in the electoral process, and at this point it's going to be very difficult to get the turd back in the bottle. God, from his lips to your ears. Some of that confidence needs to be destroyed. One of Trump's facets is to be an agent of chaos that exposes flaws in the system. We have a voting problem, especially in some big cities, but it crops up all over the country, from time to time. We need election integrity. We need only citizens to vote. We need voter ID. We need systems that cannot be hacked or compromised. We need absentee voting, but we don't need citizens voting by mail, unless A)they request a ballot, and B)the postmark on that ballot is within three weeks of the election, and C) the ballot is received no later than by the time the polls close on election day. This is not a Republican, Democrat or Independent issue. This is an everybody issue. And if it takes some superball bouncing around the room breaking voter confidence glass to enact meaningful reform, I'm all for it.

@kluurs that is cool you used to work for NCI. I did a bunch of work for them in the 2005-2011 time span when I was working for a research company in Rockville, MD

You know, you'd be surprised at some of the new crossbows...You could probably conceal one with a long trench coat. A Ravin 500 (500FPS): [image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQfREN95BsX7JEaLGsSF3EE65ocMqsCljKomw&s]

Life insurance = Annuities I was always a fiduciary. I didn't think a licensed agent was anything but. Having said that, I went back and read the original article. They should worry more about investment fees and trading costs, than an extra paltry 1.2% return.

It was a weird speech, or at least the parts I saw. Claimed his son Don is married. Froze for a minute (not sure if the teleprompter "broke" again??), etc.. Maybe this belongs in the Sad Cognitive Decline of a President thread

@Jolly Agree on the oil price thing. Thailand had a plan to have 7% of transportation fuels coming from "eco fuels". That would not be possible with out government assistance. Currently on hold right now. But having say that, the costs of production are coming down. Diamond Green Diesel keeps expanding for example. And some of the cool things companies are doing with different starting points (algae, etc.) will make it more competitive.

It seems like there’s enough to criticize in what she actually said that this Greg fellow didn’t need to invent anything

@Copper said in Feeling Masculine?: And no real man would answer a survey like that. No real man would even be reading the bloody thing. And if anybody doubts my manliness, I've just got back from wrestling farmyard animals with my bare hands naked. Well, they were naked. I wore a thong.

Quick comment/rant, maybe @Aqua-Letifer will appreciate it. Notice what they did for the first 6 seconds? IMO, this is a way to STOP a scroller by showing THE most important part (a shot of Denzel, then large text that the trailer is starting). I guess gone are the days of normal trailer without the need for iNsTaNT hYpE eYe CaTcHinG content at the start. Also...weird music. Ok, so Denzel is in it, so we need rap music? Still, looks like a fun movie.

I’m not sure what policy stances mark him as a conservative. He’s heterodox, which has become “conservative” these days. Heterodox was left a couple generations ago.
