I worked with a path going through a bad divorce. He moved to another city for locum tenens work and rented an apartment to live in. He came home one night, staggering drunk. Tried to use his key to get into the wrong apartment. The woman in the apartment wakes up and gets her husband out of bed, who confronts the drunk doc at the door. A loud argument ensues and a fight starts. Hubby has a black belt in a martial art and quickly puts the doc down. Police arrive and put the doc in cuffs, while he's trying to tell them he can't breathe. They don't understand him or just ignore him. Dr. Seldon J. Deshotel died face down in a concrete parking lot from a broken hyoid bone.

When I was about 12 and visiting relatives in Michigan, a cousin and I were in the woods at night when darkness fell. It was a cloudy night with a very heavy tree canopy. It was dark - so dark that even after adaptation, we couldn't see anything even a foot in front of us. We were on a trail - it wasn't even safe to move. One could have opened a roll of film and it would have been safe. Just about the time, I was thinking we should stay-in-place and hope either for someone to come looking for us, I remembered I had a tiny AM transistor radio in my jacket. I turned it on - and it had a very weak little dial light - but it illuminated the whole forest - because there was nothing else out there. We made it back to the house w/o incident. We didn't mention the stupidity of our hike to our respective parents.

@Jolly said in Harris sez ...: I would. And nail it to the wall. She's really just following the FEMA guidelines. Equity is, after all the #1 goal of FEMA. https://www.fema.gov https://www.fema.gov/about/strategic-plan Note that having the country prepared is goal #3. I can't see how this was even considered as being on the correct side of the First Amendment.

The cotton crop took a hit, I'm sure. Peaches, I don't know...Small fruit trees usually take wind pretty well. Peanuts are usually dug in October, so maybe that crop isn't hurt too bad. Dairy cows? You'd have to be an idiot farmer not to have generator power for your milking machines.

My provider is WoW. It never has gone down for the year or so I've had it. WoW is represented in advertisments by a dog with human hands. Couldn't be more creepy. [image: 1727739719490-40bc65cd-758c-483f-a30d-d6cb5489405c-image.png]

@Mik said in Election Lawfare: In the neighboring county they have uncovered a fraudulent ballot harvesting operation where voters are called and told to send their ballots to an incorrect address, not the BOE. Sorry, that doesn't exist. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...
