We are a maritime nation. As such, we need to build ships and submarines.
Now, I differ just a tad...Sure, we need nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, but we need some less glamorous, much less costly vessels. We could use diesel subs in some areas. We could certainly use small, conventional corvettes. We need cargo and maintenance ships. Right now, I'd rather see four or five new corvettes than a new boomer.
And we need the people to build them. Engineers, welders, electricians, pipefitters, machinists, etc.
