I felt like we should have been able to vote on whether the town installed a decent sewer system. It got voted down by a bunch of people who’ve clearly never lived in a civilized manner and don’t understand water tables.

Stock market melting up after-hours. I assume the stock market likes Trump, though of course if I'm to believe all the smart people, I should believe the opposite. What with economically ruinous tariffs.

Harris had plenty of money to fund her ground game. Money helps.

@Mik said in We can draft 'em...: Rankin and Bell are with us now and playing well. They wanted to keep Bell, but couldn't afford him. Rankin? Guy was a really good rookie. Had greatness written all over him...And then he tore his Achilles. He came back and played okay, but he wasn't what he was. If not for injury...

I like the piano. I haven’t played a Bechstein in years. The last one I played was too bright. This one sounds decent.

@Horace For Ukraine, the fairy tale ending exists only in the magical thinking of the left. The only fairy tale ending for Ukraine is in the perverse minds of those on the far left who still think Russia is a proletarian state and that Putin is liberating Ukraine from the grips of Nazis beholden to and in the pay of the CIA and MI6. The equally perverse far right is not far behind in a similar false Cinderella assessment. The rest of us know very well that the current nightmare will be ongoing for some time. The tale ending in tragedy has already been set.

@George-K said in C'mon, ChatGPT, do better.: Tried it on my Mac - confirmed. That doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could be that for every "bias" you can detect towards one side you got three examples of bias for the other side that you never hear about. If people just look for examples of one kind of bias, they'll find those examples.

@George-K said in Worth a bullet?: Just wondering: If Harris/Walz lose, will Gwen Walz open the windows of her home so that she can enjoy the smell of burning tires? Edit. Never mind.

We’ve passed 80,000,000 early votes. That’s essentially half of the 2020 electorate.

I’d say Nixon’s comeback was more impressive. Remember after losing the race in 60 he ran for governor in 62 and lost. It was after that loss when he made his famous comment about ‘you won’t have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore.’ He and everyone else thought he was done.
