    State Dept. Plans $400 Million Purchase of Armored Tesla Cybertrucks

    The department’s procurement forecast for 2025, which details purchases the agency expects to make, includes $400 million for armored Tesla vehicles. The document does not specify which Tesla model, but the electric Cybertruck, which has a body of high-strength stainless steel, would be the most suitable vehicle.

    Opps - hmmm. Somebody had a change of mind. LOL

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-13/plans-to-buy-armored-teslas-disappear-from-us-procurement-list

    The State Department’s procurement forecast removed the mention of Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. in relation to a planned $400 million armored EV purchase after reports emerged about it on Wednesday.

    The December version of the document had included an “Armored Tesla” budget item that would span five years and start in 2025, however the document was revised to remove Tesla’s name

        The military has been working on this since 2023.

        The current optics are bad, but this wasn't some spur of the moment thing

          @Jolly I 100% agree.

          I posted that a bit "tongue in cheek" as a counter side to all the claims that the current administration is posting about that they did, when in fact, it was in the process for a long time.

          This is no different.
