Portillo’s Italian beef is the standard.

Tonight I made Smashburgers and the year’s firs fresh picked porn. Both awesome.

    Nothing like fresh picked porn.

Portillo's is my favorite too, but Mrs. George wanted Buona. It comes close, albeit it bit spicier.

@taiwan_girl "Get The Fuck Out Of Dodge"—I guess you could say it's an old Western saying. 😛 Kinda means going quickly far away, or being gone for a long period of time.

I was just going through my camping/hiking stuff, taking inventory, and once again making a go bag. Because especially today you just never know.

LOL Thanks! I assume your stuff does not include that which was eaten by your pet?

Already got a replacement. (Well, an upgrade. That one was only rated at 40 degrees; the new one is for 20. Also got my wife a 20 and some seriously awesome camping stuff.)

Looks like you are ready for teh Arctic Circle Trek!!!

DON'T TEMPT ME I'D TOTALLY DO IT. 😁

I already related my story, didn't mention my skin color but my picture is attached to my profile and to every post. I suggested that such interactions do not necessarily have to do with race. I suppose I am among those she thinks is a micro-aggressive racist.

I will say this - my daughter has at least gone to college and tried to make something of herself. She never got involved with drugs, and other than her attitude she's ok.

So Loki, where's the photo? 🙂

With best of intentions the project got deprioritized but may be back on this Saturday. The final nail in the coffin was a necessary trip for more paints and a debate over grades of sandpaper.

Excellent observation, Klaus. Does the party with no biological connection have parental rights? Tricky.

I am a big fan of farming, and know people who farm, both in the US and other countries.

The gentleman is correct that you dont want to have the farmers include the subsidy payouts in their planning. That is a recipe for disaster.

I also think that the US should start to remove the support for ethanol. Never really thought that was a good idea. Ethanol requires a whole separate pipeline (no pun intended LOL) from the other energy sources.

I think the US should focus on potential bio-fuel sources which can use the same pipelines, etc as regular petroleum fuel. Malaysia used (not sure about right now) have a pretty good program to promote bio fuels. They did order that plants planted for biofuels could not replace food crops.

Thailand had a problem to try and have biofuels be 7% of the fuel supply by 2030(?). That program is somewhat on hold right now however.

In the US, not sure how you help the individual "family farm", as they are disappearing pretty fast and the "company farms" are having a bigger and bigger precent of the overall farming market.

Good discussion, but I dont have any answers. 😞

@George-K said in Tucker: Masks and social distancing have no basis in science:

Yesterday, Mrs. George asked me when it became improper to say "Oriental." When and why was that term replaced by "Asian?" Is "Oriental" not accurate, or is it offensive in some way?

    It is accurate.

It is in no way offensive.

But it was outlawed for no reason I can figure out maybe 15 years ago.

It was replaced with Asian, which is obviously inaccurate. Asia goes all the way over to Turkey but Asian is used to describe those from Eastern Asia.

I say bring back Oriental. I don't think there was ever any disrespect associated with it.

Didn't read the article because I don't care about no George Soros, but I can't imagine that Soros poured a measly $220 million into racial justice. $220 million is chump change for him. No need to pour. $220 million for George Soros is like what happens with you when you put change in your pants pocket and the pocket has a hole in it.

Dont know much about why to eliminate the Dept of Education. Why to do that?

It's expensive. Do we get $70B worth of value from the Department of Education? I think not. Correlating with number 1, what do we get for our money? It's been around since the late 70's with no real gains in student proficiency. Shuks, throw Headstart into the mix and we spend $100B per year, with no lasting benefits. Common Core. That abomination alone, is enough to burn the department down to the ground. It piles up unfunded mandates. Loal districts know how muh money they have and what they need to spend it on. Get the Feds out of their back pockets. Lastly, it's actually unconstitutional. Nowhere in the Constitution is education mentioned. Public education is a state and local issue, not a Federal one.

All of these. Particularly the unfunded mandates. Schools when we grew up had a principal and an assistant principal and a counselor. Maybe. Now they have several counselors, few of any real value when students can look up whatever they need online, often three vice principals whose jobs it is to meet these federal mandates.
