Manchin and the army of congresspeople voted in by the deplorables. The left has an unspoken reliance on the politics of the right. It is standard operating procedure for a self-identified leftist in the business world to accrue the social capital that identification provides, while the safety net of conservative politics and ideas is always under them. The only reason this sort of cake-having-while-eating isn't widely panned as duplicitous two faced jackassery, is that it is so ubiquitous, that few even notice it.
