How does that jive with Trump’s policy to not allow states to regulate AI?

The policy needs to go through Congress.

I'm entirely confident that AI oversight will be a bipartisan priority.

                Education is extremely important.

Can we get rid of executive orders already? Or substantially reduce the ability to use it and bypass the legislative branch?

First, you need a functioning Legislative Branch ...

I think not long from now when it sinks in a lot of Trump’s supporters are going to be pissed that he didn’t even try to introduce immigration reform legislation. I don’t think it would have been hard to pass something reforming asylum laws, for example.

It looks to me the majority of Trump's supporter is more into performative pwning of the libs than fixing the immigration system.

                          President Trump agrees with you!!!

In 2012, Trump tweeted, "Why is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?"

During a campaign event in 2016, he remarked, "The country wasn’t based on executive orders... It’s a basic disaster."

Agreed, totally. If there’s no effort in this direction it was just an election issue.

If the concern is impact on local banks and smaller businesses, you'd figure they should be talking to those local banks and smaller businesses. 🤷

The populists are really unhappy with the idea of AI taking over for human production. Certain American political movements will happily strangle our global competitiveness going forward.

Jesus. I’d like to say it’s DOA but there’s a 50% chance Trump jumps on board with the concept.

Was responding to the X/tweet that says "VP JD Vance held a secret call with CEOs of giant AI companies including Elon Musk, Dario Amodei and Sam Altman."

The 'they' in my sentence refers to JD Vance and the CEOs of giant AI companies cited in the X/tweet.

Maybe that's how Bernie thinks the US should compete with China when it comes to AI? Sounds quite a bit like the sort of things that communist China would do.
