I have no idea what I'd label myself as anymore. There's no prominent platform out there that doesn't subscribe to a Yellow Dog ideology, so to hell with all of them.
Obvious lobbying to join me in the Objective category is obvious.
But it isn’t going to work. Horace anointed me and me alone.
Well I have observed that you anointed yourself. But subtle subtleties are subtle.
Anointed. In this case it means "I didn't have a tissue handy".

Klaus CL
In no country different from the US anyone would ever associate me with anything "left". If I'd have to label myself I'd say classical liberal and conservative. Over here I'd be classified as far right in the current political climate.
-
I count only three "L" in the list, but typical for the far left, the number is listed as 9. I almost rest my case.
Ax, Left? No way. He's right down the middle, sensible. Is there an "S" category? There should be. Me and Ax. Both "S's" and appropriately look down on everyone else.
You should all just be grateful that Me and Ax even talk to anyone else in the world, let alone any comrades here.

The only reason the visceral, destructive hatred of Trump isn't shameful is because all the people who feel it are surrounded by people who also feel it. These sorts of things only become shameful with historical perspective, if ever.
It is shameful.

Acfually, I'd say Larry and I both would be classified as positively revolutionists...In 1776.
But yes, I would peg you as classical liberal...Which is pretty conservative in America...
-
I would put myself at CR as well, mostly because of a few libertarian positions and because I support single payer Health Care. Almost everything else I am down right Republican.
-
@Loki said in Doesn't Really Mean Anything, but fun thought exercise:
Let’s make this interesting and rank the CL and CR in order.
Yeah, great call.
TG, what if you gave everyone a number: 0 being most liberal, 50 centrist, 100 being most conservative?

@Aqua-Letifer
Aqua, did you mean good - better - best?
Guess I'm reading too much into it, being mostly perfect and all.BTW - based on one of your interesting posts earlier:
Is there a term for a sentence which begins with a word, and ends with the same word? For example, "Obvious to those that know the distinction, that it is all completely obvious."
Or, is that just bad grammar? -

Nahh, arbitrary. I knew I'd be called on it, though.
And Epanalepsis is a repetition of a beginning phrase at the end of a line or sentence. One of the most well-known examples is Robert Frost's "Mending Wall": "To each the boulders that have fallen to each."
-
All right, here is my ranking:
Some notes:

It was tough, because some people I think are very close, but thought I would try. LOL

Thanks! Epanalepsis. Epanalepsis. Need to remember that. I can imagine the
shockedstupid look on peoples' faces when I casually remark on their use of an epanalepsis.I can imagine the mumbling, "he's getting closer and closer to the middle of the bell curve!" What a compliment that would be!
Epanalepsis. Type it 100 times.
Epanalepsis. . . -

Epanalepsis. . .If you wanna take the full plunge, get a copy of the Handlist of Rhetorical Terms. You'll be all set.

Again quibbling aside it isn’t bad, probably he most glaring misplacement is QI. He’s much more to the right I’d say.
Markj more to the left
Good points. Just dont know Quantum enough (or have a good feel of him) to know. He is in my 16-20 group. LOL

Be fun (although impractical unless Klaus is up for more web scraping) to compare this to total words shared. QI's not the most prolific so I can see how he'd be hard to rank.

Haha love it! Seems about right to me (at least FOR me).
