It’s time to wrap it up. Got rather ridiculous in the first half.

Nope. I was ready to head to the house. It is the season, though. They're nice and big this year. Several big boils have happened around here for one cause or another. The rice farmers should be happy, as they tend to make more money off of the crawfish than they make from their rice crop.

We seriously need to do two things: Congress needs to write and make less law. Congress needs to write better law. Law that is more succinct, with less loopholes and clearer meanings.

@Axtremus said in Adaptation Studies: @Aqua-Letifer, among TNCR regulars, it seems to me you are more likely to know about something like ... what do you think of it? It's something we covered a lot in my master's, with some emphasis on commercial application. I think as a "Study" it's bullocks. As a practice, it's very difficult. To create a good adaptation, you have to have developed sufficient sensibility in both the original medium, and in the one you intend to adapt it to. That's why "the book was better" is such a cliché. Back in the day, though, Disney were the undisputed masters at this.

Scary stuff. Glad that it turned out okay. Hopefully I would react in the right way in a situation like that.

What is the "swamp". I hear you guys say this a lot but am not sure what it is. Is it refer to people who have worked in government a long time? If so, I don't think you want to get rid of experienced people just because they have been there a long time.

@Jolly said in W VA - "Safe Republican": GOP has a good candidate. Manchin does have a chance. Turn Republican, ask Jesus to forgive him and throw himself on the mercy of the West Virginia voters, That’s what Justice did…Hard core democrat until 2018. Frankly, Manchin would have problems even if his popularity hadn’t slipped. Justice is loved.

@Mik said in Where's the Beef?: Besides, such a subjective thing Of course. IMO, the problem with Portillo's is that they have seem to have lost the "originality" of the flavor. It's not bad, but it's pretty generic...and...well "bland" isn't the word. It's just not awesome like it used to be. I'm not sure, but I think the franchise is under new management/ownership, and the quality has declined after that. My favorite "Italian Beef" is Buona Beef. We had it for dinner last night, and I couldn't be happier. It tastes like traditional Chicago-style Italian beef. I don't think it's available outside the Chicago area, however. Our local grocer carries it - frozen, so we do it about once a month.
