@Catseye3 said in Contender for the "Most horrible person on the planet" award: Eh. This is one of those deals where you'd have to walk in the person's moccasins. She faced two scenarios: Either he got well or he died. If he got well, she probably wouldn't have been able to cross back over to where she'd been in the marriage before he got sick, so resumption of a happy marriage was not in the cards. Or she could endure an unhappy state until he died. Either way, she lost her happy state. It sounds like, fairly or not, he killed her love with his behavior. The decision to divorce him was cold, but why extend her misery? What would that serve for either of them? I tend to agree. We know little detail, but I can imagine circumstances where I could understand why she did what she did. Maybe she is awful, but then again maybe she merely has a healthy dose of self defense.

I don't see why tech companies should be able to publish news articles they didn't write for free.

I fear we have to experience real violence generationally to know why we shouldn't do this crap. War is very good for that.

George Santayana’s quote is better. Hitler’s analogy makes no sense anyway.

Lots of water in those pictures considering the Water Wars of 2500 AD will likely have used it all up. Also Barcelona... think the Sagrada Família will be completed by then?

It seems the obvious reasons are the iPhone, WiFi, social media, and Obama.

@George-K said in Kennedy vs Painter: Agree with him or not, he’s always a hoot. I believe @jolly has had something encounters with him. Just cringing in the corner of the room. My boss was the one answering all of his questions. That was back when he was State Treasurer.

I hadn't realized it before this debate, but according to my survey of google, Gladwell has never been taken seriously as an intellectual. He's at the level of a Bill Nye.
